Electric rates
Mine just went from a normal of about 475 to 720
Friend says they have been warning for months on National TV

Re: Electric rates
Maybe I don't understand. I just went to the "conoce tu tarifa (spelling?) know your tariff rates found at the CFE website. And I could not see any major rate change.
I sure hope you are wrong
This is what I got for lakesides Tariff 1 zone if you are not on DAC
1, Consumo básico $ 0.793 por cada uno de los primeros 75 (setenta y cinco) kilowatts-hora.
2. Consumo intermedio $ 0.956 por cada uno de los siguientes 65 (sesenta y cinco) kilowatts-hora.
3. Consumo excedente $ 2.802 por cada kilowatt-hora adicional a los anteriores.
And the DAC rate for region one still kicks in at the same point and the rates are 3.862 pesos per kilowatt hour. And all of the rates of course are charged another 16% Value added Tax
So as I read it the rates are relatively steady , and going up very slowly and if your retirement income is based on the US dollar, the rates seem to be going down
What am I missing?

Re: Electric rates
Sparks, are you using AC?
My CFE is always 200 +/- a little. Last was about 20 pesos more.

Mine too, Trailrunner. Highest in eight years living here was 320 pesos when I ran radiant heater one cold spell.

An extra hundred pesos would be worth being toasty during these cold spells.

Re: Electric rates
Sparks is in a cheaper area (pacific coast) for electricity than lakeside. Lakeside is the highest rate as we don't need heat or AC. Apples and oranges most probably.
Sparks compare how many KwH you use and see if the price went up or your usage of electricity went up. Kwh number is on front of bill on upper left side if I remember correctly. Old history of usage is on back of bill.

Until we know his usage we don't know. He could have a wire shorting in the wall driving up his usage. Someone decided to steal electricity from him. Fridge failing. I think his numbers are for pesos right? Maybe they changed some region stuff making the price go up for the coast. Its not a price increase its an accounting change LOL. Who knows.

Re: Electric rates
Of course. He may have put a pool in, I don't remember, if so that could be it. He's no rookie here, I'm sure he's checked all those possibilities. Or, maybe they're not giving a break to the coastal communities anymore. CFE has gone up, but shouldn't be that much.

Re: Electric rates
My bill doubled for one two month period last year. The next billing period it went down to normal. CFE said essentially, too bad, so sad--pay up.

Re: Electric rates
Same KW as the last
All my neighbors got the raise too
The coast gets higher subsidies

Re: Electric rates
Maybe they are lowering the subsidies...

Re: Electric rates
I see far fewer solar panels than I would expect on the coast. Lowering the subsidies may force some to convert?
