Free Wine & Cheese Reception
Public Invitation
The Lakeside Assistance Group is hosting a special reception in order to display the 53’ container of Firefighting and Medical equipment donations we have just received from our friends in Canada.
The reception will be held in the new Warehouse on Calle Av. Hidalgo 452, across the street from S & S Auto in Riberas del Pilar from 1:00 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday the 21st of September, 2016. Wine and cheese will be served and you will have the opportunity to see what our Lakeside Assistance Group has distributed from previous donations and our plans for the future.
Sincerely,
John Kelly Perry M. King, AIA, Fellow, SAME

LAKESIDE ASSISTANCE GROUP/ GRUPO DE ASISTENCIA DE LA RIBERA
Purpose: Our primary purpose is to provide much needed equipment and supplies to both Civil Protection Bomberos and First Responders in the Jalisco area. As well, when medical supplies become available to us from donors, we will provide them to needy clinics and medical facilities.
Distribution: Our practice is to accept requests from municipalities and organizations for items and then evaluate the needs. If and when we are able to acquire these items we distribute to the most needy organizations. We are required by our donors to ensure the items are going to be used for charity and are not being sold or lost. To this end we have them signed for and randomly inspect the sites to ensure items are still there. This is also the legal requirement we have to the Mexican Aduana in order to import without paying duty. Not meeting these stipulations will result in losing the donation in the future and paying fines.
Fundraising: It is our need to raise money to pay for shipping of items as well as purchasing items of an urgent nature (such as a propeller for the Chapala Bomberos boat as was the case with the problems last time they had a mishap on the lake. In the past we have had a football tournament, and pancake breakfast in Chapala. Poncitlan and Jocotepec have also had events, This money has gone to the local stations for improvements and toward shipping charges. We have also asked the municipalities who have or are going to receive equipment to donate to the next shipment. We are now trying to find Corporate sponsors but only have 2 so far . One is Canadian National Railway who has given us an excellent price for rail shipping and the other is ATCO, an Alberta Company who has donated a shipping container we can keep for storage.
Cost to Recipients: There is absolutely no charge for the items; they are given freely and all we ask is that if they can help out we would be grateful. No matter what is paid, how much or how little, there is no effect on what is given out. Our only criteria is the greatest need to the most needy.

Re: Free Wine & Cheese Reception
Thanks for the information. I've long admired your work.
As an ex-Torontonian I confess to a chuckle every time I see one of our Bomberos with TORONTO emblazoned on the back of their uniform.
See you Weds.
