Back for a Visit

C-Bob and All,

My wife and I came here for the first time in March 2014 for eight days. We had the opportunity to come back to the area for the month of Sept this year as all the stars and planets came into alignment. This is an extended vacation for us as I am still 2 1/2 years from retirement. We met C-Bob and his Mrs. the last time we were here and were very appreciative of his insights about this area.

We struck out on our own today like two kids on bicycles with training wheels, met some new people at LCS, got pesos from the ATM at Walmart, learned to ride the buses (what fun!), had dinner at Tony's, road the bus through the village (got to love those cobblestones), and returned to our rented condo in west Ajijic none the worse for wear.

I am a regular reader of the board here so I know a lot of the regular posters here. Your comments are insightful and instructive for us newbies and, some, maybe not so. It's all good.

Thanks. I'm glad you are doing better CBob. We have a down day today as we have a gas leak in the laundry room. Waiting for the gas man [Interruption]. He came and problem resolved. Rains is slacking off. We are going to LCS, Charter Club Tours, and Salvador's for late lunch.

Each day is an adventure. We are learning a lot about how things work. We have become experienced bus riders in a short time. Biggest thing I have come to understand is learning the landmarks. Often, the regulars here will describe the location of of a new restaurant or shop by describing the location relative to a well known place. Example, we found Jardin Gosha's Restaurant (If you have not been to Gosha's, you need to go. It is excellent) as 2 doors down east of Bruno's on the Carretera. Knowing the exact address isn't as good when you are riding a bus and the street signs and confusing address numbers are flying by.
