Does anyone have any information about this event? I think it's supposed to be at the Chapala Malecon but perhaps someone has a schedule of events? What time does it start?

I really do not know what takes place at this event. I haven't seen any schedule of events and I also can't find a website. I found their Facebook page but it doesn't have any useful information.

No, that is the Festival de Globos. This is an actual airshow. Last time they had all sorts of things including some of the Red Bull planes doing some great stunts and sky divers jumping from a helicopter and playing chicken to see who could pull their chute closet to the lake.

I am not going to wait until I find out what actually is going to go on at this event. I would like to do some proactive complaining about the noise, traffic, crowds, danger of things falling out of the sky, and the general unhealthiness of the snacks they will sell. (I heard there are no organic, gluten-free or free range options.)

The last time they held this event the highlight of the show was a paraglider that crashed into the muck of the marsh (bad landing).

I'm an escapee from Los Angeles, long ago..  This here stuff is the result of dirty air, smoke and an inversion layer holding the mess down between the mountains........or it sure seems and smells like good old SMOG.

How bad can it get?  One time, driving down from the mountains after skiing at Mammoth Lake, I saw the entire area covered with a greenish "cloud cover".  My husband was flying weekly out of L.A. and back. He claims there was a distinct "bump" when the planes hit the "cloud cover" upon descent. Shocked

My favorites were the two Cessna 310's. Seeing them take out the balloons was really cool - a first for me. I thought some of the stunts along the shoreline were too close to the crowds and a bit dangerous but fortunately nothing happened. I don't think that NOB airshows are allowed to be conducted directly over the crowds. Maybe the insurance regulations here are not so stringent.
