Buying a used car from private individual
This is my first post and hopefully this question was not asked before, I'm planning on buying a seminuevos car, a private sale, what can do or what do I need to check to make sure there is no lien on the car, I know when I change it to my name the office will tell me if the car has any tickets or the yearly fee not paid, I need to know if the car is all paid for since it's a fairly new car. Also I read that I should go to the place (DMV) with the previous owner to change the ownership, any help or advise would be appreciated, TIA

Re: Buying a used car from private individual
All the above is correct. I've just recently done it.
Use this site https://gobiernoenlinea1.jalisco.gob.mx/vehicular/ to put the license plate and the VIN # to see if there is a match. Use another site (I can't find the link at the moment but others probably have it) to check if there are fines or tickets owed on it.
If the plates don't match, I'd move on. If it has fines or back reg or ticket multas due, use that in your price negotiations.

No problem. If the seller has ALL the right documents, and if they're willing to go to SAT with you to transfer the ownership they probably do, then you and them meet at SAT and when you go together to the window to pay it should come up then. If they owe money the car won't be in their name, right?
Just don't pay a peso, show them the money if you want but don't let go of it, until you have the car in your name and the decal and new owner paper.

If the seller has the factura and is the last, or the original owner with no transfers shown on the factura, and he has used the vehicle as collateral in a loan situation without the lender holding the factura, that lender is SOL. Even if the lender goes to court he can't attach something the borrower no longer possesses.

Thanks slainte39, this is what I did not understand, so it is safe to say that if the seller has the facture under his or her name the tittle is clear of lien (loans), thanks again everyone for the info.
