New Noise Laws
I guess I'm going to have to take some action against the dogs across the street at night.
There are new noise laws for our municipio, right? Anyone know how I can access the laws? File a report?

Re: New Noise Laws
HAHAHA,as I'm posting this I can hear a dozen barkers and yappers,I can't stand them or their ignorant owners, when some of my neighbors tried to file a report,it went nowhere. They were told that unless the barkers were being mistreated there was nothing they could do about it.Trailrunner wrote:I guess I'm going to have to take some action against the dogs across the street at night.

Re: New Noise Laws
Thanks, Viajero, I thought of you last night.
One good thing is the Delagado is a neighbor too and has been active in cleaning up the basura, the basura dumps around town, and creating handicap ramps around SAT. He puts up signs and makes leaflets about the garbage and image of SAT. I'm thinking I could start with him. There are at least 3 households here that will file complaints.
I do hear what you're saying though. . .and I expect it to be the outcome to be the same.

Re: New Noise Laws
There was a fire at a house in Guadalajara last night, the owner is an American known as El Gabacho, the bomberos found over 100 dogs in his backyard, the bomberos couldn't get in because of the dogs trying attack them.
100 dogs!WTF is wrong with these people??
And I thought I had it bad with only 2 dozen barkers on our street...
It wouldn't surprise me if that fire was deliberately set.

I've read about him rescuing Guadalajara street dogs. You're probably right, Viajero, arson.
So what happened? Dogs die? Gabacho muerte?

These barker collectors have no consideration for their human neighbors, they are pendejos/pendejas.

If I remember correctly he is a retired priest. He collects street dogs and gets evicted periodically.

Keeping that many dogs is a hoarding disease. He could spay/neuter street dogs and have feeding stations for them. They would be better off than living in the overcrowded conditions in his home.

Maybe one of those could be set up outside of your house.
Screw him and his 100 barkers.

Re: New Noise Laws
Been there, so I empathize. In the worst case, it was in the states where the neighbors left their German Shepherd in the yard and left for work. When they returned, all was quiet, but while they were gone..........non stop yowling and barking. I worked at home. My other neighbor was ill, with his bedroom next to the dog yard. One day, he'd "had it" and called authorities, who levied a choice of a huge dollar fine or having the dog disappear. It disappeared.
Multiplying the annoyance level by a factor of 14 or more...........it would bring out a violent streak in most of us. This is way over the top.

Re: New Noise Laws
All too frequently people start with the best of intentions and begin collecting (hording) dogs or cats. One of the benefits of an organized shelter is the discipline to say "no" that comes from having a board of directors.
When we lived in the Colorado mountains, we had a neighbor who collected Husky mix dogs. They bought a large piece of land with some old buildings, put up a fence of sorts and kept a dozen plus dogs there. Someone came by once a day to feed and water the dogs but they were mostly feral. The woman claimed she was going to move to Alaska and run the dogs in the Iditarod. The dogs were frightened and lonely and they barked. Lots. One evening when the dogs were especially noisy, one of the neighbors went over and shot the lead dog. (Never sure which neighbor but several were suspected) The woman did move the dogs.

Jaja.......you have way more patience than me. I would have dropped a few thousand pesos on a "solution" long before now..........

Please don't poison the dogs. It's a long, painful death. The owner is at fault. Just don't use poison, please, whatever you do.

What would you, Carry Bean, suggest as a viable alternative solution?Carry Bean wrote:Please don't poison the dogs. It's a long, painful death. The owner is at fault. Just don't use poison, please, whatever you do.

They ought to euthanize the owner INSTEAD of the dogs. It is NOT the dogs fault it is the fault of the owners/guardians and the dogs shouldn't have to pay the price of a dumb guardian with their lives.
Carry Bean is right, please don't poison the dogs, Viajero. It's gawdawful torture before they die and it takes some time in most cases. I had a dog poisoned and it was hell for both of us, snagged some poison bait chicken skin and it's the worst experience I've ever witnessed. Even with the vet zooming right over, there was nothing to do but watch her suffer or put her down. I can't even think about it, it's so painful. She was an innocent little creature who only had a few months of love in her whole miserable life. She was not a barker.
I've talked to both families across the street and expressed my displeasure at the barking. Both just threw up their hands and shrugged saying they had no idea how to stop it. I demonstrated my dog's obedience skills and told them they can be trained not to bark. They were dumbfounded. Neither had any idea a dog could be trained.
It is a little better now, if I tell them to shut up they often do. Temporarily. But, it appears the owners have been trying it too.
On my worst nights I vow to get a slingshot and shoot rocks at them, but with the light of day my ploy changes to shooting butcher bones (not poisoned), toys, rawhide bones, or doggie treats at them. They are just bored, untrained, and have no life outside of the roof patios they inhabit.
Having said that, there are still 2 little poodly yappers I'd like to nail with a good cobblestone but I won't. I'd probably break a window and end up in jail.

And, if you kill/poison all those dogs they will just be replaced by 10 more.
