BANAMEX CREDIT CARDS
For all those of us who Banamex USA threw under the bus in the past year or so..........our credit card accounts (at least mine, anyway) were still usable. Today I called on another matter and was informed that they are all going to be inactivated as of April 7th, this year. Just wanted to spread the good news.

Nope. We're working on a solution. Right now, hung out to dry.

Can one open an account there with a Mexican address? (And, no, we don't have a U.S. address or anyone to "borrow" one from)

Will do. We're mainly looking for check writing (in smaller amounts than our major investment house allows) and a debit or credit card. Thanks for the suggestion.David wrote:I don't know. Maybe check online?

Are you eligible for USAA? (military connection) They don't have a problem with foreign addresses since so many of their members are overseas.

Alas, no. I suspect that ex-husbands don't count. (grin)
The nice folks at the "international" bank who were okay with Mexican residents belonging wrote a nice email and told us to stop by their Laredo office to finish such an application. I kept a straight mouse in my reply. Honest.
I think the drug traffickers have ruined things in the banking situation for us simple, honest expats. But......we'll manage.

You can get an AMEX card in Mexico with a Mexican address. Go for it!
