Costco & Credit/Debit cards
What credit cards does Costco accept? They have accepted AMEX as the only credit card in the past but now that they've parted ways I wonder? I have two debit cards; one works at Costco and one doesn't, not Costco's doing though.

They accept most cards, they just charge you a premium for not paying with cash. I think it is 5%???

Costco is partnered with MasterCard now. Particularily Capitol One NOB.
Re: Costco & Credit/Debit cards
Costco entered into a long-term deal with Citi and VISA. Costco will begin accepting VISA card on April 1, 2016. http://www.cnbc.com/id/102413714

Costco's CC partner in Canada is now Mastercard. Sounds like the U.S. has a different arrangement.

Re: Costco & Credit/Debit cards
When at Costco store #1 (Seattle), last week, they told me that I could start using my other card as of 1 April as David said. When I asked about Mexico, the cashier here in Seattle, had no idea about other countries.
Edit: I just phoned up Costco HQ and asked and they confirmed that in the new card will be the citi visa card in the US. The lady I was talking to did not know what was going to happen in Mexico either.

I looked online and learned that the Costco card in Mexico is Banamex. I saw no items in Google about Costco Mexico changing its credit card.

Yes, but only until the end of March 2016.
The question was which credit cards does Costco accept, not issue.

Re: Costco & Credit/Debit cards
I just had a chat about this with the Costco manager about 4 days ago after my Visa debit card was refused (Lopez Mateos branch). I also tried my visa card, also refused. The mastercard worked but they made me sign the usual slip of paper despite my having a digital signature on the card. I had understood that this was supposed to be against the law?
I knew the status of my cards were not the issue so I asked and was told that Costco had just signed an agreement with the banks for using mastercard, so if anyone reading this can still use their Visa card, please let us all know.
I also inquired about their requiring you to sign the usual slip of paper, despite also having to use the credit cards digital signature, effectively asking for a double signature. Be aware this removes the security purpose of your digital signature, rendering it redundant. It also means that , if they choose to become unscrupulous about it, there remains the possibility that you could be charged twice for the same purchase.
Eyes open I guess and watch your statements.

We used our Visa card at Costco (Lopez Mateos) on May 21.

We always pay cash. Using any credit card in Mexico is chancy, IMO.
Besides, why pay a fee?

I agree about cash, because you only deal with the transaction one time, instead of twice (buy now, pay later);
Do these shopping services that you use, allow you to use a credit card? I wouldn't think so.
