american plated car insurance

Is it possible to buy auto insurance for an american plated car in mexico?

I used them for years but had no claim. Friends that did have claims were happy with them.

You cannot insure a foreign plated car in MX with L&L if you are permanente. That's not to say they might take your money and write a policy but if you have a crash they won't pay because your car is in MX illegally. Per Jim Lewis.

Our policy covered partial theft.- like tires, mirrors, etc. My understanding is that many policies cover only theft of the entire vehicle.

All policies allow it, some folks just don't know to ask and pay for that coverage.....

Partial theft and vandalism are good coverages to have and dont run much more for foreign plated cars.

We had Lewis & Lewis for many years (until we bought a Mexican plated car) and did file a claim. They did a fine job and their adjuster was on site within a half hour of the accident. They have an ad in this week's Guad Reporter

One of the things I liked when I used Lewis and Lewis was the contract was in Spanish and English and how to use the website was easy and very clear to understand.

Jesus Tejeda is a local agent. Having someone here can be a major benefit if you have a serious accident. Having someone on the end of the phone is not to useful if you're in jail! BTW, you will be in jail if anyone is injured.

That might account for the INCREDIBLE amount of hit and runs here...

Hit and runs because many people drive drunk / no license / no insurance. Cops dont care if someone hits and runs, victim has to go to MP many times, nobody is punished for breaking law so you need to have insurance or else plan to lose.
