how to get rid of u.s. or Canadian plated cars HERE
For people who do not intend to bring in another car under permit, I can sell your car to a wrecking yard on the Southside of
the lake. they will dis assemble the car and sell the parts. The price they offer depends on what car you have and what
condition its in. Send me a P M or e mail me at lawandrew07@yahoo.com if interested in this option.

Wait Hocks, the law could change in our favor. I'm saving my 18 yr. old Nissan Maxima GLE for my grand daughter. Just had the engine rebuilt, reupholstered and will get the crummy paint job fixed after input from the kids. I've had 2 firm offers on the thing as well, but will not part with it. Best car I ever had. If any of the kids get into a prang here, the thing is built like a tank.

I do not think its against the law to take a car off the road here, however ifhockables wrote:schraderone wrote:For people who do not intend to bring in another car under permit, I can sell your car to a wrecking yard on the Southside of

If you're offering to Broker such deals and encourage people to sell unwanted " foreign " vehicles in this Country
shouldn't you be the one to know the Law in this matter.

only been told by a lawyer, that what Mexico wants is the cars off the road. If you have a better answer why not publish it.

Well, I'm not engaging in Vehicle sales so it really doesn't matter to me....
I only asked because it occured to me some may unintentually be breaking the Law by not returning their vehicles to their country of origin.
So I asked an honest question...
Isn't this against the Law?
You are the one who should be looking it up

Has to be taken off the Aduana books somehow. I hear that means giving it to them. Maybe if you have a new passport since import and no deposit to protect ... it may not matter?

I have been told that if you get a new passport, or "loose" your old passport and replace it, the car is no longer on the Aduana's books. I don't know this for a fact, but know it still worked a few years ago.

Why would it have to be taken off the Aduana's books if the car is destroyed or junked AND you had no intention of importing another car?
Here's another question, why would I have to stop at the border to have my Import sticker taken off as I'm leaving Mexico forever? I don't have too.

Re: how to get rid of u.s. or Canadian plated cars HERE
Good point John. As long as you are entitled to one vehicle while here, I don't think it makes any difference whether you park it in one piece in your driveway or at the bottom of Lake Chapala or in many pieces in your garage or in many pieces in someone else's garage. The vehicle being driveable is not a requirement.
Just don't try to bring in another one, as two are not OK, until you go through the proper procedure for legal/government disposal of the first.

"Taking it off the road" would be the same situation , as if it was wrecked & totaled.
