Flu shots available tomorrow, 9 Nov
I received this from Dr. Sam:
This is just to let everyone know that tomorrow, Monday the 9th, we will
be offering influenza vaccines in the office from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
Anyone can come. No appointment needed. Be sure to tell anyone else you
know that still needs to get their flu vaccine shot.
This shot does not contain thimerosal (a mercury-based preservative). It
is a pre-filled, single-use syringe that eliminates the need for a
preservative.
Brand: Fluarix
Company: GlaxoSmithKline
Origin of production is Germany
Price $320 pesos

FYI the shots are also available at your local Health Department. The Government has a push on right now and has even been giving them out at bus stations, etc. One year they were giving them outside Walmart. There is a Departamente de Salud in Chapala and San Antonio down the side street from Sunrise Restaurant which are doing shots, I believe perhaps in the DIF building on Camino Real in Ajijic. There is probably one in both San Juan Cosala and Joco, maybe in the new hospital. There is no charge for this.

The yearly FLU vaccine as well as a wide array of vaccines that the adult EXPATS living in the Lakeside area need will be continually available at CHAPALA MED throughout the year.
Because they are subject to availability and need to be stored in a manner in accord with the local Health Dept. (Salubridad) you will need to call ahead and schedule your vaccine application.

What is the cost for the FLU vaccine you offer, Chaplamed?
Is it also Mercury free in a prefilled, one-use syringe?
What is the country of production?

Same one. Same price.
And for those who able to take it, I also have the NASAL MIST.

That is true. Sometimes you can get lucky when they are out of the clinic giving shots, but usually if you want it for free (in this case, from the Secretaria de Salud), you usually need to arrive early in the morning and wait your turn (often hours) to be attended by one of the government employees because they, like any other Mexican public health service provided by the government to the population, are understaffed to take care of the overwhelming number of patients seeking free services. :(

I usually go to the health dept in San Antonio around 1:30 and have little or no wait.
