Think that 10 ft wall will save you from being robbed? They put up a ladder came up on the roof, came in the unlocked door on the roof and robbed. Luckily they waited til folks were gone. It was a grab and run and looked like a possible inside job as they knew what to get. My point is that upper door you think is safe is not. Lock it up whenever you leave. Close to Christmas and that makes it a bad time for robbery. Not my house for folks concerned and everybody is OK about it but you should think about security and make sure we don't get cocky about it. They did and got robbed. It changed our behavior.

I'm suspicious of a propane truck that parked in front of my house for 45 min yesterday. They rang my intercom, which I did not answer and then after 40 min rang it again and finally 5 min later they drove away with fracc workers coming around the corner. Where did the ladder come from? Of course a propane truck would have one. My husband saw the truck pulling out coming back in and there was no name brand on the side of the truck. I'm going to get a fuzzy picture of it from the security cameras but keep it in mind.

Funny thing about the thinking that it was an inside job because they knew where to look, is that people commonly put stuff where robbers know to look.   How many people think that a good place to hide their valuables is in their bedroom closet?  The bedroom is one of the first places they turn upside down.  When we were robbed in the village we were told it was professional job.  They stole checks, out of order, left the book and cashed them in Guadalajara before we could have even imagined any such thing could happen.   People need to ask other people that get broken into, where their house was torn apart and then hide their valuables where they didn't look. Don't tell anyone where that spot is except someone that would need to be able to find it if something happened to you.

I use the garage. BTW, what we're talking about here is burglary. Robbery is when someone threatens you to your face and takes your valuables, not when someone breaks into your home.

Are you needing someone to clean your garage?

No, I'm not available, I was being sarcastic since we all know where to look at your house. I know someone trustworthy that may be available but they already have a house sitting job scheduled and I'm not sure of the dates.

I put my cash and valuables in an airtight plastic bag on a wire and drop them into the fosa septica.  Come on over Chapalagringa and try to find it, because even my plumber can't.

Never heard or the tank being checked, I think you are on to something there slainte. Even thieves must have their limits to how dirty they can be. Now everyone buy a good zip lock bag and hide your valuables in your toilet tank. But remember to remove it if you call a plumber.

A guy down the block has them in a sealed, safety deposit type box under the raised tinaco on his roof. It's on raised blocks with one "false" block.
