break in in Ajijic Empty break in in Ajijic

My neighbor near the Danza del Sol, Ocampo side, had the lock on their outside gate punched out. The perpetrator entered the grounds and then went over the wall to the house next door and then to a house on Ocampo where he found the cash he was looking for.
A simple metal ring made and soldered on around the lock would have circumvented the break in as the lock can not be pulled out when the ring is present.

So you're saying a motivated criminal type couldn't find another way to do his dastardly deed? Beer

That may be true for targeted break-ins however "Opportunists" tend to go for the easiest target. A good security system will ensure you are not the easiest. A friend of mine on Nicholas Bravo, down near the lake, was also broken into last week. Same thing, they punched the lock out.

Were incidents at night or daytime, were residents home, anything taken?

My friend was hit between 7:30pm and 11:00pm. He thinks they watched him get into a taxi and drive away. Sounds like a targeted break-in to me. They knew he lived alone and had lots of computer stuff. He does kind of associate with the wrong people sometimes.
