They are trying to evacuate Melaque to large public buildings away from the beach. Military making the rounds.  Proteccion Civil thinks maybe 5 meter surf.  It's raining again and we have some wind.

The storm is to the west of us and it is sucking all the moisture into it.

Think of the storm like a big hole. Everything is going toward the eye.

It looks like the main track is N and W of Guad....more than likely there will still be lots of wind and rain for Lakeside..... but there's a bullseye on Melaque. Sure hope they got everyone to safety.

Scott...where are you? Five meter surf would hit Elke and Vern's house wouldn't it? I can't even imagine what it's going to do to that beautiful beach.

The state of Jalisco made coastal evacuations easier by not charging for any toll booths to get out.

Sooo, Delta has pushed back my flight from Atlanta to Guadalajara tomorrow to where it arrives at
9 Pm . Think everything will be o.k. by then? They will allow me to change it to Sunday with no penalty if I want to. I don't know how long it takes hurricanes to dissipate...what would you do?

It's the aftermath you may have to watch out for. Downed power lines and landslides.

I'd postpone.

Don't forget to charge up cell phones, laptops and tablets. If your own power is out, you may want to take those elsewhere to communicate. Also, make sure you have plenty of ice in case you need to toss some things in a cooler. We picked up one battery operated flashlight in case the outage is extended and our rechargeables go dead.

I filled every plastic container that I could find with water and put it in the freeze. Best "ice chest" ever. The more ice you have in it, the longer it will keep stuff cool.

I also filled some quart freezer bags with water to freeze also.

Power has been out a couple hours, very strong gusts and lots of rain. Don't remember hearing the wind howl like this. Sounds of things coming apart but my house and yard are pretty secure. Wind blown water coming in windows -- a first.

I just spoke with a friend in PV. He lives in Marina Vallarta. He said there is nothing there at the moment. No wind and barely sprinkling. Maybe we will get it harder than PV???

I hear it's moved south a bit but trying to find out where is almost impossible. NOAA's latest is 11am.

Yesterday it was switching from tropical storm warning to hurricaine warning. It just went back to Hurricaine cat one status for us lakeside. Is it so strong that its just going to pop over the mountains and not be degraded as it normal behavior?

Blowing pretty good now under the Cell phone tower in Upper Ajijic. Metal doors are starting to talk.

That explains why our wind is coming from the east so far.

Has anyone heard from Sparks? His place was taking a beating the last post I read. Sure hope he's OK. I waited for the ten Oclock news...sure that they'd have it all... nada... at least not any more than I already knew. If anyone hears from Scott (Sparks) or Elke and Vern please post the info.
