Could be a wet weekend.
Tropical depression 20E is just getting wound up.
Should be a hurricane in the Pacific by Thursday, and will return to a storm as it makes landfall.
If the NHC is right, it will track towards us late Friday, early Saturday.

Re: Could be a wet weekend.
With a level 2 hurricane in the middle of Jalisco ..... I really doubt. They always break up on the coast. Rain for sure
Re: Could be a wet weekend.
Although Patricia will lose hurricane status once she makes landfall, we could possibly get gale-force winds in excess of 35mph here at Lake Chapala. So you may want to bring the patio furniture inside before she hits and rethink your weekend travel plans. You may also want to stock up on flashlights, batteries and candles. Here's the link to the U.S. National Hurricane Center website in order to keep yourself informed of the storm's progress.

Re: Could be a wet weekend.
No downgrade on the NHC site, and the weather underground is predicting rain starting at midnight friday.
The winds may do more damage than the rain.

Re: Could be a wet weekend.
My original link had a big orange dot right in the middle of Jalisco .... which is almost impossible. A green Tropical Storm is noting to sneeze at unless it is downgraded further
Re: Could be a wet weekend.
Not looking good. Forecast shows a Cat 3 hurricane in the Pacific on Friday.
It shows a Cat 1 hurricane arriving in our area Saturday.
Hope it tracks further west.

Somehow I doubt a "hurricane" can make it over the mountains and reach this far inland. High winds yes, hurricane level winds, doubtful.
I guess we will find out.....
Re: Could be a wet weekend.
Ajijic weather today said "Current models show Patricia passing west of Guadalajara at 1 a.m. Sat. with winds of 90 mph/145 km."
Coming from huricane country, stock up and get gasoline.

Forecast to come ashore as a Cat 4 now.
I spoke with a woman an hour ago who said she remembers a hurricane hitting Chapala when she was young.
I am bringing my patio furniture indoors just in case.

Hmmm... Starting to think we should do some prep tomorrow and pick up a few supplies, in case the power goes out.

Re: Could be a wet weekend.
Even with the cat one status not hitting lakeside don't underestimate tropical storm status. It still going to be real rainy and windy here at some point. Feel sorry for the coast we got a break when the storm turned slightly west they are going to get the shit kicked out of them. Be safe folks.

Re: Could be a wet weekend.
Stay safe Sparks!!!
With the electrical grid around here being fragile at best, better be prepared for possible long-term power outages if we do get some high winds.
Non-perishable food items - check
Water - check
Vehicle fueled up - check
Beer - check
Rum - check
Smokes - check
Flashlights charged - check
Candles - check

Re: Could be a wet weekend.
The latest information now predicts it passing northwest of us with "Tropical Storm" status. We may just get the fringes.
