Anyone know the current per square meter cost of new residential construction in our area right now?

that really depends on what you're building and who you use to build it, doesn't it.

No, that is the nice thing about averages. The process of applying for a building permit requires you to state the anticipated costs and the square footage of the intended project. From this the average is determined for all the construction in any given area no mater how big a project or who is doing the work. Up north this data is acquired from the process of applying for building permits, not sure if the same happens here.

I would think the minimum would be around $50USD per sq. ft. up to around $150 per sq. ft. for better quality. Maybe use $100 as a good middle number.

Building permit here was done with a napkin drawing, in-house engineer drew up the large plans ...... and pay your money. No amount of money considered

I just finished some construction in Ajijic and I had to have blueprints and estimates for the building permit. No napkins happening here sparks.

My drawing was on the napkin ..... not the final used for the permit and building. Final was a meter or more wide

Sorry you didn't get my PM.

One of the main things I said was to watch or have someone who knows what they are doing and doesn't have a vested interest in the cost watch how the cement is mixed. There is a specific formula to make concrete and I have seen many, many times when either there was way too much sand put in, and in some instances, literally garden dirt used. Sand/Dirt is not expensive, but it stretches the cement that does cost.

I saw this example today and took a picture. Sorry about the blur, I forgot to take if off close-up.

These concrete polls are always falling apart because they use 2X the same recommended.

Also watch that the proper rebar is used and not the lightweight crap.

Just my thoughts/experiences/observatons being here 10+ years.
