Some people and I'm talking about 99.9 percent of people who bitch, will bitch about everything and anything because they can. They do not know how or care, about making someone, somewhere mad. That is all that is important to them. It makes them happy. .
Be in the moment and let peace exist, it's not hard to do....

We were enjoying terrific seafood platters... a kitty was under the table rubbing legs, being super friendly.
These two old broads watched as I fed my new kitty friend...
They just sat there and sneered at us, showing their obvious disapproval feeding this poor feline.
I just ignored them.... best to ignore people like that...
Some time later... the nastiest odor imaginable wafted our way...
Our little kitty friend was burying something under the nasty ole broad's table.
Karma folks... that, and animals can sense hostility
Do not feed animals in restaurants. If you want to feed them, take it outside, off the dining area.

I happen to like seeing little fur kids in restos/public places. Big ones, not so much. However CB's Rosie would make a great dinner companion and foot rest. Fur kids tend to be well groomed, at peace, behaved & quite happy to be with their caregivers. On the other hand the caregivers can miss behave and require designated drivers, etc.

Everyone thinks their kids / pets are angels, even the ones who are real terrors.
Most people go to a restaurant to eat in peace, not have
scruffy barking and jumping all over you or going under the tables and tangling everybody in his leash
littly Billy grabbing you with his greasy hands and pulling your hair or hitting you
Maude needing to smoke that entire pack of Marlboro reds after eating her salad

Amen to that one. All of it. Especially the "eating in peace" part. I was dining at the outdoor terrazza at Roberto's when the dog at the next table went ballistic over another dog and owner passing by on the entry path. It got pretty wild, and very noisy. Who needs that?
For those who can't stand eating without their "fur kid" along, I was out on a walk today and passed the restaurant on the way to the Ajijc Malecon (in the former Red Piano complex) and there's a sign on the building saying "we love your pet." So here's another place to "dine with the dogs".
Nice looking menu, too, especially if you like Mexican style.
Buen Provecho !

So true..gringal wrote:The dog becomes a grandchild substitute in some cases. Easy to spot.
You have to remember that the average age for diners in Guadalajara is about 30 years younger than the lunch crowd at Panino's, Cocinart, Chillin, etc., etc., etc. People coming from jobs, places of employment, schools, and other away from home venues or going to business comidas, are not going to be carting dogs.
The unemployed Mexican housewives that usually go out in a small group of friends in a nice sit down restaurant, are not going to be carting dogs. The large family groups that get together on weekends at any restaurant in Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque, the places along the Chapala carretera like Los 3 Potrillos, or the many restaurants in Piedra Barrenada, are not going to be carting dogs.
And the late night diners in the nice restaurants in Guadalajara, including the young on "romantic interludes", are not going to be carting dogs.
So it's what gringal says.....a grandchild, or in some cases...."notice me, I've brought my cute cuddly mascota, which makes me stand out from all the rest of you ordinaries".

Re: Dog's in restaurants.
gringal, in reference to your post about the restaurant in the old Red Piano location, that is what you call "Mexican style"
As opposed to what? a NOB fast food chain?
Seriously. Now what is Mexican style? as most Mexicans I know are pretty diversified in their eating.
Pre-Columbian? tacos and tostados? dishes you couldn't find anywhere else in the world? menus is Spanish?
Beef, pork, chicken, seafood, rice, beans, corn, are ingredients in many Mexican restaurants dishes with slightly different variations of seasoning but not that much different that I would pick any particular way, Mexican style.
Perry's pizza, not....yeah, but some Mexicanos think pizza was invented in Mexico along with Coca.

I suggest you get your food and go eat it in a phone booth. With the light off. But don't pass gas.

Mexican "popular" dishes, i.e. Chilequiles, fixed several ways for breakfast. No Pizza offered. I doubt the menu is unique.

I'll bet you call your doggy a "fur kid" or a "girl" or "boy", and I'll be it passes gas, too.

I fully expect this thread will once and for all end the debate on dogs being allowed into restaurants. Unlike the 3117 previous threads on the same topic….jajaja.
Yep. I noticed that a few weeks ago.

You forgot all the people trying to sell you whatever while all you want is to eat and enjoy your companions and food. Oops, don't forget the drinks!

I'd like to hear from the pet owners the reasons why they bring their dogs into restaurants.

We bring our dog with us to lunch on Thursday's as that is when our housekeeper is working.oncesubtle wrote:I'd like to hear from the pet owners the reasons why they bring their dogs into restaurants.
He is well behaved, and I think Just Chillin said that we are not allowed in to their place without him.
Other than that, he can be seen with me, waiting for my pizza at Perry's on Fridays.
A lot depends on the dog. There are quite a few diners that I would like to see barred.

Re: Dog's in restaurants.
And all this time, I thought it depended upon respect for others and the law. Our three dogs always stayed at home, even with the maid working. We would never presume to take them into a restaurant. Once, when we were moving and they were with us, we ate street food or used room service, so as not to leave dogs in a hotel room.
I wonder: What do you do with your dog when you go to a movie, Hospital, doctor‘s office, grocery store, public restroom, government office, department store, night club, hair salon, auto dealership, another person‘s home, etc.?
