My neighbor has bats in her house.
When she says "house," I thing she means in the space between the ceiling and roof.
She was going to try to use bleach to get them out but I read that isn't a good idea.
Any recommendations for an exterminator?
How can I protect myself from them deciding to come and squat at my place (I am immediately next to the bat house).
Thanks.

I hope "she" isn't an old bat herself, as that will make it more difficult.

I'm sure if you Google "how to get rid of bats" you will find a ton of suggestions.

Bats eat a lot of mosquitoes. She may want to keep them.

The best garden I ever had NOB - by far - was the summer I had bats in the attic.

I live in the Haciendas, and had bats living under my roof tiles. I hired a contractor to fill in all the roof tile openings around my home, leaving a small hole for drainage.

Put a light up there. Just don't use one that can start a fire. They hate it and will leave. We had 'em hanging out all over the ceiling of our outdoor terrazza, shittin' all over the floor and furniture. We put a standing lamp which is aimed upward out there and the flying friends left for better quarters.

Our patio has dime sized brown splatters all over it all of a sudden. Is that what yours looked like gringal?

Happens to us occasionally--when the neighbor's plum trees have fruit. We leave on a light overnight and after a few days the bats go somewhere else.

Re: My neighbor has bats in her house.
We've kept bats away from our horses successfully for years -- we turn on the lanterns in the stables every evening and have solar lights on the end of their paddocks. We don't leave horses out in pasture in the evenings or overnight.
Now I have an infestation of bats (lots of droppings) in our garage -- I'm going to try the double-barreled suggestions of leaving a light on, and plugging the holes. Thanks!

Re: My neighbor has bats in her house.
If you are going to plug the holes, make sure you do it at night, after the bats have left.
Otherwise they will try to find a way in to your house.
