Bats Empty Bats

Post by RichD Thu Mar 02, 2017 8:49 am

Almost every evening I go up to the mirador to enjoy the fresh air. Just before the sun wains, many bats fly over my head swirling in what I though was a feeding pattern. After many times I realized that they are there every day and for a flock of bats to feed over my house each day would be rather strange. Yesterday I paid more attention to where they are coming from and found they exit from under the roof tiles of a neighbors huge house.

I love bats and know the benefits of having them around. I do not want to see them hurt, but what about my neighbors? If I point out what they most likely don't know, they will probably have the bats removed. There are humane ways to exclude bats, but I know where I am and what conservation methods would probably be ignored.

Should I tell the neighbors they have a bat infestation?

They probably know from the bat poop below where the bats are during the day.

During the day the bats are under barrel tiles on a covered mirador (huge). I doubt the guano is observable by the occupants. Would you ignore bat droppings on your lake-view mansion?

If they know and I tell them, no harm to the bats, but I do not think they know.

Just so long as they're not in your belfry.

I would just keep that info to myself. Bats are already under siege from, I believe, a disease like a fungal infection, that is decimating the population. People are wrongly afraid of bats, and they would likely meet a terrible end. I love bats. Enjoy them!
