Motorcycle trip Empty Motorcycle trip

Post by otrocanuck Fri May 01, 2015 8:17 am

Each year I return to Canada and spend some time riding my motorbike to see family and friends. This year I want to ride to the Grand, and Bryce Canyons, Zion Park, and Colorado and tour those areas. Once the ride is over instead of returning to Canada and storing it there over the winter I am thinking of leaving it in a storage facility in one of the southern states. That way I can go up there at any time of the year to ride and not have to wait for the Canadian spring to arrive, also next year I can start my trip north from there.
My question is where is a good city to store it in that will allow me to fly back here directly at a reasonable cost and has storage facilities near the airport, also willing to bus back here if practical.

Just as an FYI........I would go for the city with the most temperate weather. Unless you get a temperature controlled storage facility the heat in places like Phoenix will cook your bike.

So much easier to fly direct from Guad to Phoenix or Dallas. I would look for a temp controlled storage in one of those places. Prices vary depending on location so shop around.

Do not miss Arches National Park on your ride. When we moved down here, we took a zig-zag leisurely trip through Utah and Arizona hitting all the parks. Southern Utah is a visual fantasyland. Just amazing. It would be outstanding on a motorcycle.

San Antonio, TX has direct flights, with some by Mexican regional airlines, and lots of storage facilities, due to the heavy military presence there.

I don't know what you ride but pick your city of choice and go talk to a dealer of your brand of scooter. Many have inside heated storage and will keep your bike charged and ready. I keep my Harley at American Eagle HD in Corinth, They keep it charged, drive it around the lot every so often to keep the tires round and service it for me when I call and tell them I'm on the way. Even wash it for me all for 40.00 a month
