The little motorcycle cop?
Someone just posted on TOB that a lady in an SUV hit and killed him. Anyone know anything about this?

I sure hope it ain't true. That little devil was trying his best to keep the streets safe from the effing mindless gringo drivers around here. You know the ones I mean. I read their posts on TOB. One complained about being ticketed for running a red light. ("Why me, the three Mexican drivers in front of me ran the light too?")

Some of, note I said some of the Americanos and Canadians come down here and drive like they own the road here.

Kinda racist of ya Hocks. We don't know for sure if it's true yet....we sure don't know who or what the circumstances were. Like's been mentioned before, a lot of people's brains do not register motorcycles. I know they scared my Mom to death for that reason. Lets just hope it's a rumor.

Actually most peoples' brains register motorcycles incorrectly. We are wired to think that small = far away and slow, even if that motorcycle is tearing ass at 100 mph.
So even if people DO see the bike, they pull out in front of it verrryyyy slllooooowwwwlly. Learned this factoid in some motorcycle school I took.

Motorcycles are just splatter opportunities here. And gringos coming here in short shorts, halter tops, glittering gold baubles, and driving honkin' SUV's need to stay NOB.

CBob, it's not enough to open their eyes, they need to understand that small does not equal slow in fact it means DAMN fast.

Re: The little motorcycle cop?
To go back to the original question [ye gods, am i the voice of reason?], as i understand it, a motorcyclist was hit when an SUV was turning left into the "new" tuesday market at La Huerta and the person on the cycle broke his arm.
Nobody dead and just a matter of confusion about the signals required here to turn left. [Left turn signals often indicate it's safe to pass on the left....not that the signalee is actually TURNING left.]

Re: The little motorcycle cop?
Actually what happened was at about 10:40 am the Canadian lady driving her station wagon car was turning left into the Tuesday market with her signal light on and the motorcyclist behind her decided to pass her and broadsided her car. Luckily for the lady, 3 military vehicles were following the motorcycle. The bike landed upon the young man and was removed. The lady in the car was a trauma nurse and administered first aid until the ambulance arrived. The military stayed on scene until transito and insurance guys showed up. One of the military guys was fluent in English and assisted the lady with the papperwork and translation. One of the trucks took off with a load of men and headed west. Around 12:45 the other military trucks took off. Around 1:15 the young man returned from the hospital with a sling on and seemed in good condition. There was no cast or cuts/scrapes. There were 2 other witnesses that came forward along with the lead military vehicle as witnesses. Both insurance agents agreed the fault was with the motorcyclist.
As me and my wife were having lunch we had the opportunity to chat with the lady and tried to keep her calm. My wife provided further translation for the lady.
It all seemed to end good for everybody. Thank God.
The young boy did not appear to be a motorcylce cop.
We finished our beer and birriia and left

Re: The little motorcycle cop?
glad nobody was hurt to bad.... left turns and left turn signals can be tricky here....
in high traffic areas... I always opt for a right turn, go half around the block and wait to drive straight thru an intersection...

Re: The little motorcycle cop?
From what I understood was that the guy was also at fault for passing on a solid line.
His bike put a pretty big dent in her back seat door. The bike was in excellent condition. Not a high speed crash I guess.

Re: The little motorcycle cop?
Glad to hear that it all turned out well. I have no deep abiding love for the motorcycle cop but I wouldn't wish him dead.
We asked for the ticket when he tried to pull a fast one on us. We didn't do what he said but I'd rather pay a bad ticket than a bad cop.

Re: The little motorcycle cop?
The little P---- gave me a ticket for parking the wrong way on the one-way street east of "Gossips".. As cars were parked both ways, I asked him where was the sign? He walked across the street, pulled back a branch on a tree, and there it was, nailed to the tree.
