I have successfully used the tax office in Chapala to get the names of new owners. The office requires only the address.

Wouldn't you go everyday after the closing to ask thus indicating your extreme interest and need to know and softly you indicate your hope that she would keep an eye out for the change or go dig thru a paper pile on a desk looking for it...

The reason I asked is because a realtor told me it takes 3 months for the new owner's name is posted. That seemed a bit long.
With other daily obligations and Chapala not being convenient for a daily visit, I'm was hoping to get a better idea of when to start checking. Perhaps someone else might have an idea?
Thanks ....

It does take a long time for the new deeds to be registered. The new owner must also wait to get his deed, and may even pay his taxes and water on the previous owner‘s account for the first year. Patience......

On the other hand, we had our deed signed sealed and delivered within 6 weeks of the closing.

Admittedly, ours took longer, since the notario made several careless mistakes. The first was the wrong seller‘s name; not a typo, a completely wrong person!

After the closing, the notary has to pay the taxes; as soon as the office gets the papers back then we send the deed to public registry, it takes between 3 to 6 weeks to be registered. You have to take note that sometimes there are some document missed or some mistakes... then it will take longer.
