Everyday things Empty Everyday things

Post by oncesubtle Sat Mar 21, 2015 8:19 am

Just getting on the carretera in Chapala yesterday as a vaquero on horseback was herding an adult cow through the intersection. They ran the red light of course and turned left stopping on coming traffic.

Driving through Ajijic during rush hour, smack in the middle of town, the pick up truck in front of me decides to make a U turn. Now he's holding up traffic in both directions as he finally manages to accomplish his mission. Nobody honks, no nothing and life moves on.

And to think I used to get irritated when people did dumb stuff on the road. Now I just sit back and enjoy these little everyday things that make living here even more entertaining. Viva Mexico!

I agree completely. Gone from upset to bemused when things like this happen.  We will both live longer I hope.

Me too, totally agree.
What I like about watching these bone-head traffic moves is . . . knowing I can do them too!
Life is good.

What is really amusing is watching a vaquero herding cattle on horseback using his cellphone at the same time. Think about it!

HaHA.
Ten years driving in Guadalajara has definitely changed my driving habits,I still respect pedestrians but that's about it.

I always say I do not think I could live NOB again. I would be bored to death. Here just running errands is an adventure. You never know what you will encounter or see.

I had to go, and I am definitely bored to death. Mexican panteons are more exciting than Tucson.

I wonder what the deal is? When we're sitting on our patio at night and the neighbors crank the ooompah music there isn't an irritated hair on my head. If that shit was going on NOB, I'd be raising hell.

Ditto what she said, RVG! Miss you too, glad you are still posting as it doesn't feel like you really left. Sorry you had to return, have friends in Picture Rocks, it would be tough for me to live there, but I can sure think of much worse places.

That's great Bob, I enjoy the man that herds his goats along the libramiento, even though the cows and horses do get hit, there's nothing like having them roam free in our neighborhood, except at night when every dog in the hills of Chapala are barking because of them, hehe

A recent guest of mine got a real bang as this furniture maker made his way down the carratera to deliver his fresh goods.  What can you say besides that you wouldn't see that in on I-5 in the US...it's definitely entertaining.

I know loading the horse in the back of the truck is real cool but one day I happen to see this dandy one horse trailer on the libramiento.

While his day might not end well, he looks like he is enjoying the ride. Far better than being stuffed into one of those hog haulers with 200 other pigs.

Our prized porker Christina would have loved that ride. She thought she was a dog anyway and being an alcoholic she liked doing crazy things.

Would you prefer the pig be less secured and fall off, get run over, and meet an untimely death. lol!

None of us know "the end" except for the "guy on the bicycle" (figuratively), and like the pig and the man, we can't seem to communicate on that matter.

Today I saw 3 guys on a motorcycle cross the carretera in west Ajijic with a colt in tow, taking it for a run up into the hills--slowly, I am pleased to note. They ALL, including the colt, seemed to think this was fine and dandy. I do enjoy the improv here.

Montana is quite a long way from 1-5 USA Mr. Clampett, can't say what folks from Alberta would or wouldn't do.

this would be move #7 of 22, it did take a ride up I-5... before that, during move #6, I lost my vacuum over the Altamont Pass...Eureka! the vacuum it was.
