Total eclipse last night! Empty Total eclipse last night!

Post by gpyros Wed Oct 08, 2014 1:56 pm

Just in case anyone missed it, there was a total lunar eclipse early this morning easily visible from here.  The clouds cooperated and the moon decided not to set behind the mountains until the eclipse was completed.

I took a series of photos from the Raquet Club in San Juan Cosala and combined them into one for posting.

Enjoy,
Greg Pyros

Great photos and presentation,thanks.
Was the color in the middle photo of the "blood moon" enhanced by filters or was that how it appeared?

That's amazing! Thank you Greg, I was so disappointed that I slept through it...of course the first one earlier this year terrified me. It was horrible to witness yet I'm completely stunned at the signs in the sky.

No filters or post-processing - that is how it looked to both the camera and naked eye - it was beautiful!

Great pictures. I woke up early this morning and saw the partial eclipse and just like in your picture didn't see the red moon. I figured heck it was too late and went back to sleep.

From your pictures I see I was too early. Oh well, at least I was able to enjoy your pictures and see when the moon looked red. Thanks a lot for sharing same with us

Here's another higher resolution shot, the "blood moon" at totality.
