Hi, All. We're looking to rent an apartment or house, long-term, to start in October this year (2014). We are a couple in our mid-fifties, fit and active. Criteria and non-criteria:

* Within walking distance (~1km) of Chapala centro.
* At least 2 bedrooms and at least 1 bathroom.
* Outdoor space: patio, terrace, balcony, mirador... something where we can enjoy the weather and preferably see scenery or at least passers-by.
* Reasonably quiet.
* Furnished or unfurnished.
* No more than US$500 monthly for the base rent, or US$650 if utilities and services are included.
* Pet friendly; we have two old cats.
* High-speed internet, but no need for TV.
* Preferably in a mixed residential / retail / commercial neighbourhood.
* No need for parking (no car).
* NOT in a gated community, and not in an expat enclave; we're happy going native.

Thanks in advance!
--- Old Lars

Great ad, Lars. Will be on the lookout for you.
Just one question: do you need all one level for living space or is two story okay?

Thanks, Lady O.L.! Two-story is fine; we are fortunate to be in fine shape and stairs are no issue.

Looks like we'll come down in early-to-mid-July to look around for digs. We utterly fell in love with the area, and Chapala most of all, when we visited in February, so we've decided to take the plunge.  Very Happy

Thanks, chapala man, we did find a place while we were there in July. My apologies, I should have posted that news.
