WOW! Looks like the days of inexpensive gas in Mexico are gone. We are in the $2.90+USD range for regular.

Costly petrol but we don't use much. Costly gas but don't use much of it either. We did use the gas fireplace a LOT during the cold snap over Christmas and New Year's but it was $ well spent!

Still cheap compared to Canada and Europe!!!

I wasn't bitching as it is just one minor detail. But the rationalizing that it is cheaper than Canada or Europe doesn't work for me either. Mexico stands on its own and our reasons to visit have not a thing to do with what does or doesn't happen in another country.

Yup, me too. Canada and Europe over tax petrol. There's no damned reason especially for Canada and Mexico who are both major producers. They should give some benefit to the home folks.

Re: This month's gasoline prices
Well it does for me since my life here is paid for in Canadian dollars and I can only compare to what I would be paying had I been still living up there. CG was comparing it to the US and there is life beyond that....jaja.

I threw that out there for comparison and nothing more! I have never chosen to make a decision on a trip based upon gas prices in my life and I am not about to now. It is what it is and one pays the price. For our upcoming trip, we may drive 500 miles or even 800 miles but the decision won't be based on the price of gas or cheap booze or cheap cigs!

Synonymous for gasoline, term used in Great Britain and other Commonwealth countries. I thought the poster using that word was an exOregon cattle rancher? I guess that is where my confusion started. Its called gasoline in Oregon.

Ever wonder why a lot of the Pemex stations here have signs that say "litros de a litro"?

Interesting! Native Oregonian and life long resident here and I don't recall ever hearing the word used by locals. My younger brother graduated in 1978 from OSU and said he can't recall hearing it either! Guess we didn't get out enough.

1978 was a long time ago. Corvallis is much more of a wordly place than back 30 plus years. HP moved in with lots of Brits and Bay area folks around 1980 and changed the place from being OSU oriented only. Hospital empire on hill is huge compared to back than. CH2M Hill is still around
doing civil engineering world wide. Lots of small start up businesses. Pretty smart community of people these days. We are the smallest city in the
US to have a Trader Joes. Corvallis is a bit of an anomaly for a variety of reasons. 1978 different place.

My brother lived between Salem and Dallas, worked for Weyerhauser in Salem for most of his career and his wife worked in Corvallis for the school district for a number of years. Its not like they haven't been in town since 1978.

Sheesh. Just about anyone who has ever watched PBS, think Upstairs Downstairs, Downton Abbey, etc., has heard the word petrol.
It's often used to differentiate gas, the kind used in cars, from gas, the compressed kind.

Assume much? Never said I have never heard the word. Just not live and in person in Oregon. There, it isn't used, to differentiate anything. Gasoline is gasoline. Propane or LPG are also known by those names. I simply asked a question thinking maybe the poster that originally used the term on the board was referring to something called petroleo in Mexico, which is very similar to kerosene.
