I don't think the investigation and action in Coahuila had anything to do with what happened in Guerrero. And besides, it wasn't any kind of a diversion, little alone, a perfect one.
The Mexican newspapers are full of what happened in Iguala, very little about the capture of Carrillo Fuentes.

So whatever happened to this Mireles character? Whatever happened to the mass demonstrations demanding his release from prison? Whatever happened to all those human rights investigations into his arrest and incarceration?

Well, the disappearance of the 43 students in Guerrero has put the plight of Mr. Mireles into perspective. The length of his latest haircut doesn't really seem that important after all.

However, it's hard to keep this guy out of the news. The latest twist is that he has filed for divorce from estranged wife Ana Valencia. In a handwritten declaration, Mireles also requests that Ana be restrained from either speaking or raising funds on his behalf.

A number of public officials from the previous regime of Governor Leonel Godoy (PRD) have been arrested in Michoacan on charges of embezzlement and unlawful enrichment. Facts are sketchy and, so far, there are no accusations that any of the officials had links to organized crime. However, state government officials claim there will be 14 more arrests in this investigation. Perhaps there will be more information as well.
