Ajijic Day of the Dead tour this Sat Nov 2
Meet at the Ajijic Panteon (public cemetery-west Ajijic) front gate 5:45 p.m.
Cost 100 pesos which will go to restore murals and public artwork in the village
Guide - Viv Michel licensed translator (BILINGUAL) and long time Ajijic resident
Directions:
From Ajijic head west on the carretera and go past Villa Nova, Rancho del Oro, Roberto's. Look for La Huerta plaza on your left, where La Taverna dei Quattro Mori restaurant is, with the steak house just beyond that intersection. The cemetery is immediately beyond the steak house on the left. Look for a long white wall with stone paved parking in front.
If you are coming east from San Juan Cosala, go past the "new" Oxxo/Pemex on your left, and then throw out the anchor when you see the steak house in the distance on your right.

Sounds interesting. What will this be a tour of... the cemetery? We were there last year after dark, when most people had left already, but there was still quite a bit going on.

Vivienne Michel will be conducting the tour. She is a lifetime resident here, bilingual, and you may know here as the translator for presentations at the Lake Chapala Society. She will cover the history of the Day of the Dead in Mexico, the meaning of various symbols, the famous diva's grave. It will be modeled on the Patzquaro presentation. I suspect this is a presentation not to be missed--Viv will be a very lively person even if it is the Day of the Dead;)
The tour is sponsored by Delegado Hector's Advisory Committee. They will manage the proceeds and see that the money is properly spent on public art restoration.
