Lake Chapala Golf Carts
Welcome to a new forum sponsor, Lake Chapala Golf Carts, which will be opening sometime in November. Their website is not up and running yet but the premise of the business is to rent out Golf Carts to visitors for travel within the village.
Re: Lake Chapala Golf Carts

Re: Lake Chapala Golf Carts
I asked and according to the transitos they are legal if kept within the confines of the village. They must be licensed and have liability insurance. They are not allowed on the caraterra or beyond.
Re: Lake Chapala Golf Carts
Thanks for clarifying that Bob. I always thought they were illegal. I have seen a couple with placas, stop lights, and turn signals and assumed that only such equipped were legal.

We had a Yamaha Rhino with plates and fully loaded and no one would insure it because they are prone to theft. This was 2 years ago.

It is hard to get full coverage on anything like ATV or motorcycle but they will sell you liability on it.Spot wrote:We had a Yamaha Rhino with plates and fully loaded and no one would insure it because they are prone to theft. This was 2 years ago.

Re: Lake Chapala Golf Carts
Yep, apparently, liability is all that is required on these and most other vehicles. They don't care if it gets ripped off with no coverage but if you hurt someone or damage property you must have insurance for it.
Now that being said, I do see all sorts of golf carts and ATV's driving around without plates and probably without insurance. Those people are crazy IMO!!!! Not hard to hurt a little kid with one of them. I imagine they will be rotting in a Mexican jail cell for some time unless they can produce a large amount of cash.

Excellent! What a terrific idea! How super to rent one for visitors so they can meander thru the village and get oriented.

I wish I had of thought of this one myself. It will be great for short term visitors.

Apparently you haven't met the sets of Guadalajara matrons riding their golf carts thru the east village area these past 9 or so months. Alternative transport semm acceptable after all there are ATVs galore, scooters everywhere, horses and lots more bicycles so the carts shouldn't warrant a second look after the first one.

You might be wishing you thought of the new sex shop going in before the high season around Colon and OCampo. When told this I thought, :This is small town who will be seen going in there and coming out with a purchase"? My other half figures appointments, a back door of some sort or late at night might be best. We were told there will be home parties!CanuckBob wrote:I wish I had of thought of this one myself. What the locals think of us in golf carts is going to be very minor indeed.

Re: Lake Chapala Golf Carts
So Joco has one and Chapala has one so we are going to have one in Ajijic? Can't wait to watch this. Some of the Gringoes here are upset over worshiping Zombies and Michael Jackson can't wait till they find out about this if it is true.
What a funny drift.

Re: Lake Chapala Golf Carts
I think the idea is to have a fun, easy way to get around the village. If you want to hit the highway then yes, call Mark Turford for a car.
Re: Lake Chapala Golf Carts
An alternative Bob is to give visitors a guided tour in your dune buggy without the top. Great view and you can get around on the narrow streets.CanuckBob wrote:I wish I had of thought of this one myself. It will be great for short term visitors.
