Nortized copies of new visa cards
I know of many people who have and carry notarized copies of temporal and permanent visas. I asked a notary if they were legal and the answer was many people are doing it (carrying a copy). I would like to carry a copy as the replace cost of the card is high but not if it isn't lawfully recognized. I hear and read many rumor so I am looking for what is true and can then plan accordingly. Anyone know what is correct? (BS is welcome as long as it recognized as such.)

Yes you can have a notarized copy of immigration papers. You may NOT have copies of your
drivers License. Remember Black and white and notarized. My advice came from Spenser at
Intercasa.

I have a notarised copy of my visa which I keep in the car.
My real visa is locked safely away unless I am traveling out of the country.

Immigration will not accept notary certified copies but other governmental offices will. If traveling you need your original but the reality is that it is extremely rare to be stopped by immigration and asked for your papers so one must weigh this against the cost of thousands of pesos to replace a lost or stolen document.

I live 10 minutes from Tonala and drive there with NoB plates all the time,in the last 9 years I've been pulled over once and the transito did not ask for my immigration papers. You seem to be a very unlucky fellow, always getting hassled by cops and getting screwed in your business dealings,I almost feel sorry for you.sundown wrote:Transito in Tonala have stopped me twice in two weeks asking to see my TIP & immigration

Transitos should accept a certified copy and I made a request for their policy in writing in 2011 and they wrote back that yes a certified copy is accepted as the original.
