With Win8 you don't need the ''English Version''.  Windows 8 comes with the ability to choose the language of your choice in the setup process.  When I set mine up,  I chose English for the operating system and Latin America for my keyboard.

Really easy.

English is not the problem as casi nada pointed out. The potential problem with a local purchased laptop is the keyboard. Go visit walmart/sorianna and check out the keyboards and see where : and ; are, which on a US is your right pinkie if I have a correct memory. Now if you want to go native and type Spanish than go for it but if you are a touch typist use to a US keyboard buy your laptop up north or see if you can get one down here with US type Keyboard from one of the big guys. Whether they will sell you one I have no idea. I wouldn't touch a latin America keyboard but I have too many years using a Gringo Keyboard.

What do others think?  Am I a KB chicken?  Does one adjust even someone who used a KB to make a living?

Dell Mexico told me I could not get English OS from them.  Their Inspiron model was inferior to what was available in the USA and more expensive.  If you have a USA billing address you can buy from Dell USA and have it sent to a forwarding address in the USA.

Remember to take 16.5% off the price to compare Mexican prices to US prices unless you add the sales tax to the US price. Tax is added to Mexican product up front. Like VAT
tax in Europe.

Zed,

With respect, you still PAY it. Compare total cost to total cost (that is, cost after any taxes are added).

That's the first I've heard of Dell Mexico saying you couldn't get English, or even an English keyboard, which is way more important to most people.

Since all versions of Windows 8 allow you to change the language, I can see why Dell doesn't think the OS language is important anymore.
