Lake level
The lake came up a significant amount again last night. For those that don't normally walk the lakeshore you should go have a look. The water is only about 30 feet from the lower boat ramp at the west end of the Ajijic Malecon. Before the rainy season it was about 200 feet from that ramp.
Re: Lake level
are the dams still open or is the increase due to rainfall ?

Re: Lake level
This is the best September for rainfall since 2010 and over average.
Not enough, but better than the disasterous September shortfalls of the last few years.

Re: Lake level
The dam(s) must be open. There hasn't been sufficient rain to raise the lake level this much.

Re: Lake level
But the lake still has only recovered about 1/3 of what was lost during the dry season. And that's just 1/3 of the amount lost during the last dry season. Don't know how much it was still down from the previous year.

Go to Chapalaweather.net and click on CEA in the left column. That will take you the CEA website with lots of info on the lake, current and historical.

Re: Lake level
So when Steve moves who is going to run a "local" weather site? I know Albert has a site, how does it compare ?

Re: Lake level
Maybe if he moves out of the area we should try to build one of our own stations and put it online. I for one would very much miss all of Steves work!!

I sure hope if he moves, that it is simply to another house lakeside. At on time he was contemplating doing so. I too would like to volunteer to help to create another weather site should we be so unlucky if Steve were to move away.
Steve: Thanks a lot for providing us with this great service. You are greatly appreciated by many if not all of us.

Re: Lake level
Right how we are collecting data and displaying it in a very crude form from our weather station. Ellen has another 10 days of daily trips into physio at hospital #180 for her broken femur. She has also managed to finally get on top of a months worth of a very bad kidney infection. Once she gets back to the internet you'll be seeing a very graphical presentation of the local weather much like Steve is doing now. We also have a tie in coming with weather from the north shore as well with some form of easy comparison.espíritu del lago wrote:So when Steve moves who is going to run a "local" weather site? Re: Lake level
when you use google translate, it translates centimeters into inches - and that is incorrecthickton wrote:http://www.informador.com.mx/jalisco/2013/487817/6/chapala-recibe-dos-cm-diarios-de-agua-de-las-presas-del-lerma.htm

Here is what the referenced article says
that would translate into 2 centimeters a day
or about .8 inches a day

Re: Lake level
Notice that a mere 2 cm of depth translates to 20 million cubic meters of water. Wow! No wonder it takes so long! Just shows you how big it is.

Re: Lake level
Well I guess I wont be able to walk my dog on the beach much longer. Even this morning some parts are getting tight to the wall.
Re: Lake level

Re: Lake level
I would be interested in hearing residents impressions of the lake level; how it looks now versus a few weeks ago, and in general how the lake level affects the general ambiance of the Lakeside area. Does a low level make things look bad compared to a high level, or does it not matter too much?
Thanks
Thanks
