Pedro, "why would anyone go to agua milpa when fish like this are less than 1 hour away?"
Jim W......Because they like Agua Milpa......Maybe? Cuz they like getting away from the big city, for a few days?
Pedro, Please share all the photo's you've accumulated over your years @ Lakeside, fishing! Which Lake, other than Chapala? Not PHISHING!

Re: day trip fer bass
Just for the record, fishing this lake requires a quarter mile carry of your boat/floatation device, from your vehicle.borderreiver wrote:Followed your advice. Very interesting. Happy recovery.
Most people fish from the bank as accessibility is difficult for most! Good luck if you take on the work!

Whatever Jim W. Gotta feeling that your gear, a quarter of of mile stroll (sic) and some cash with a smile would land you a boat and some fishin. It's all a beerocracy. As for Pedro, Where do these fish come from ? More info please.

Re: day trip fer bass
just went and got some welding done at that place in san antonio. the owner is an avid bass fisherman and has caught up to 6+kilo using surface poppers on 8lb test. he says the fishing in calderon is as good or better than agua milpa. his less skilled friends use them plastic worms-jaja!

Re: day trip fer bass
Let us know how it is. Next month I'm going to check out another lake by Tepic called Santa Maria del Oro. It is a pristine "crater lake" that has accommodation's and apparently Black Bass.
Re: day trip fer bass
I've fished Presa Calderon a couple of times with a policia estatal friend of mine,it's okay, like Jim mentioned the access isn't easy unless you're a member of the fishing club there,I don't think the fishing is as good as it is at Agua Milpa.
Bob you'll enjoy Santa Maria del Oro,it's a very pretty lake, don't know about the fishing but try the (chicharrones de pescado) a local speciallty.

Yes, it sounds like it is worth checking out. A little water skiing would be fun too!!! I will report back.
Re: day trip fer bass
Perch? I didn't know they had any down here. They can make a slow fishing day fun.

Did a little searching. That crater lake at Santa Maria del Oro looks awesome. Notice "Noe's" has this junket thing happening to the "High End" joint, but there are lots of restos and alternative accommodations at all price points. The area looks stunning. Who knew ? I sure didn't. Gotta go. Fishing and swimming in a clean (ish?) lake. Yes please.

Re: day trip fer bass
It was Noe who turned me on to the place. We are heading there for a few days mid May.
