A friend has asked me to inquire for their trip from San Juan Cosala to El Paso with three dogs as to the best route and pet friendly hotels. They are thinking two nights in Mexico and driving about 8 hours each day. Has anyone done this trip recently and if so any road issues or recommendations? Best border crossing to use? Would Torreon be a good stopping point the first night? Chihuahua the second? Thank you in advance.

santa teresa, new mexico- just a few miles west of el paso for crossing.
why not lerdo,it's not out of the way like torreon and rolly put us on to a great no tell motel that took our 2 dogs. get in touch with rolly. he even supplied us with a map and graciously met us there and then gave us a tour but we stayed for a day so we could visit.

Santa Teresa is definitely the easiest but the last 20 miles are spooky. My map from some outfit listed the area as "urban wasteland" and it was definitely right.
