Electronic kits
I used to love electronics kits. It would be fun to get 1/2 dozen or so, then show/help the kids at LCS to put them together, they can take their project home. Now that I have had my good thought for the day, I'll go buy a winning lottery ticket to pay for it.

Re: Electronic kits
Last radio I made was actually a 1 watt fm radio transmitter from Veronica Electronics in the U.K. It transmits about one mile, powered by 12 volt battery or transformer. I thought it would be fun to have a little radio station on the beach in Puerto Vallarta (I like old time radio). Those little fm earphones are real inexpensive. Then I thought the Mexican Navy might not like it too much, so I didn't bring it. Gave it to some nieces and nephews to play around with.

Re: Electronic kits
Made 2-3 Heathkit projects before my first IBM Clone kit. Had to solder all the sockets on the various boards (back plain board - no motherboard). Was an 8086 processor and came with 64k memory and one 360 floppy. Got an extra floppy to save things. Had to boot to floppy (what DOS was that - 2.2 or 3 something??) Had MS Word Text only on one floppy. Student discount cost - $1400. Eventually got a 256k expansion board.
Where and what kinds of kits do you get here ... or anywhere?

Robots are the focus these days. Kits enable complicated projects which would be too expensive if they had to pay assembly and shipping. Here is a gymnast robot - wait for the ending - nails it! Good stuff for Mexican kids to learn. The future - shows good aptitude if you are trying to get hired on by HP or the like.
