According to the informador:
After freeing the hostage, the authorities continued with the questions, were then taken to the kilometer 17 of the highway Guadalajara-Colima, in Zacoalco the Torres municipality, which had seven heads and other human remains, which had an advanced state of decomposition. The Attorney General is investigating to determine whether detainees are related to more crime.
Zacoalco is west of jocotepec in the mountains.

They were also armed to the teeth:
En los vehículos asegurados se encontró una pistola calibre .40, dos rifles AK-47, dos AR-15, un Fall, una sub ametralladora MP5, balas, casquillos,
Pero bueno, ¿Qué es un ''Fall''?

Its "FAL" and it is a Belgian automatic weapon that used to be the standard rifle of the Mexican military and also NATO troops.

I'm sure there are some countries in Africa that will earn the top spot by far.........

Don't know about recent years but between 1789-1795 there were about 20,000 in France, and that was even before chainsaws.
Whether that's the record...I don't know.

The overall murder rate in Africa (17.4/100,000) is actually lower than in Mexico (18/100,000). This is from a 2011 publication using 2010 statistics. My African friends do worry a bit about me living here.
Mexico's rate had risen to 24/100,000 in 2012. Keep in mind that this does not include the thousands of "disappeared". The majority of African countries have a lower homicide rate than Mexico - including Rwanda and Somalia, Hocks! All of South-East Asia, including Cambodia, is much lower. Haven't you heard that the civil wars in Rwanda and Cambodia are over?

I don't think anyone's been keeping statistics on severed heads, but in my over three years living in Uganda, I did not read any news stories or hear any gossip about multiple severed heads being discovered. Around here, it's hardly even news any more.

I was referring to countries where atrocities commonly included severed heads.
I didn't realize we were talking about current events.
Hoxx is admittedly no expert on those who take heads... always more concerned with who was giving!!

Re: Six heads discovered near Guad
Of course, there was Idi Amin, one of the great butchers of recent times. Thanks for the reminder, Traveller. An ex-girlfriend of mine grew up in Kampala, across the street from a prison during the Idi Amin period. She told me that, depending on the direction of the wind, they could smell the blood from the slaughter across the street.

Idi Amin was overthrown in 1979. Most Ugandans weren't even born back then. It's all just history to them.
