Guadalajara Historic Area - Hotel Recommendation?
We are planning a trip to the Guad historic centro area, and would like to stay the night to simplify sightseeing, plus a visit to see Ballet Folcloroco. Would like a place we can drive to and park for our stay, then walk around the area, so we need something close. I'm also checking other review sites, but would appreciate any first-hand recommendations (or warnings!) if you have something to offer.
Thanks!

You might want to check out the Hotel Fenix, friends of mine have stayed there and liked it a lot. It's close to everything in the Centro Historico.

The Hotel Mendoza is on the little street on the side of the Teatro Degallado, This is less than a two minute walk from the theater where the folklorico performs.. It has underground parking and was renovated not too long ago,

Thanks, all. After looking around, we decided to go with Hotel Mendoza. Very close to the theater, so it will be easy to get to after breakfast Sunday morning. It's also handy that they have rooms with 2 queen beds, so we can have 3 adults in a room without having to get a 2nd room.

Pedro, booked a Saturday night, Deluxe Jr. Suite for 3 people (2 queen size beds, sleeps up to 4 adults). Total price was $98 US plus change ($72 for the room, $10 extra guest fee, $16 taxes and fees). Includes 2 breakfasts as part of the room. I don't know if the "extra guest" fee covers a 3rd breakfast or not. Website says there's a $90 MX per person b'fast fee. (?). Additional charge for covered self parking is $40 MX per day.
I didn't book through the hotel's website as prices were more expensive (even with AAA discount). Above pricing was through Expedia... no need for a translator. Prices were also the same at other travel booking sites. If you just have 2 people, you can probably go for a less expensive room. We needed space for 3 adults and the other rooms only allowed 2.
