Melaque hotel recommendation?
We are looking for recommendations for hotels in Melaque for a few days in February.
We have stayed @ Vista Hermosa but want to try something else.
Max $70usd/night.
2 people, 2 beds.
with dependable hot water!
desired but not required: kitchenette, wifi, view, pool
I believe there is a hotel just east of Vista Hermoosa but I can't recall the name, possibly Hotel Monterrey. Has anyone stayed there?
gracias!

Re: Melaque hotel recommendation?
We like the Sands "Los Arenas" and stayed there last June. Very nice heated pool. Very nice people. Good food nearby. Not sure they have two bedrooms as we stayed in Kitchen unit next to pool. But check out website and see.

Las Arenas is very nice, completely remodeled last year .... but the price may reflect that. http://www.lasarenas.net/indexeng.php
Both Las Brisas and the Monterrey are very near Vista Hermosa and similar in price. Community kitchen for most rooms with a few w/kitchen. Rooms do have a fridge

We enjoyed the Las Arenas when we stayed in May, the only complaint was a noisy a/c unit.
Great place.

We liked our stay at Las Brisas a few years back. Price was right and got a room with a small kitchenette on the balcony. Full ocean view. Rooms vary. I don't think we were there during high season though, so got a pretty good deal on the room.

Re: Melaque hotel recommendation?
If you enjoy 2 lane country driving with lots of twists and turns and some beautiful country ..... highway 80. Highway 80 better going down than coming up with less slow trucks to get stuck behind. Worth doing once and go back up via Colima. Not a whole lot of time difference but maybe 500-600 cost difference
Re: Melaque hotel recommendation?
In our democratic household it was decided to go both ways on the toll road. Great scenic and varied drive. Some impressive engineering feats. A lot of construction around Colima but no big delays. Saw two serious single tractor trailer accidents, Lot's of trucks but they are very courteous. Tolls 375 each way and easy to maintain 120 KPH.
