Curp number Empty Curp number

Post by barbicheesecake Fri Jun 21, 2013 6:45 pm

Hi - Can anyone tell me how to go about obtaining a curp number? Spencer at S & S Auto said that we would need a curp # before we can purchase a Mexican plated car. Thanks for any help.

You need to apply at immigration, we offer the service 200 pesos.  Takes a few days to a few weeks depending on when they decide to process the next batch.

I have purchased and registered two Mexican plated vehicles and do not have a CURP number. Nor at any point was I ever asked for one. Where do people get this stuff from?? Why would S&S be telling people this BS?

Now you do need a CURP for a Mexican drivers licence.

In Manzanillo any municipio office (satellite offices) gives them out for free.   Passport, visa and CFE bill

Perhaps S&S was speaking about a Jalisco driver's licence which does require a CURP #.

I had understood that one could get a CURP # at the municipal office in Chapala. No?

Or most of us can get it by using Rolly Brook's instructions.  Then you just need to print it out.  Here's Rolly's link:  http://www.rollybrook.com/curp.htm

9 months ago Mexico changed its policy and now foreigners can only get CURPs from immigration.  Rolly's page only applies to those already having a CURP and is incorrect stating banks may get you a CURP, they will make up a number like they do for RFC but it will not be official and you will not be able to print out an official copy.  .
