I was surprised to learn that Canada has more land mass (is bigger) than the US.
Great song Neil.

Wow Pete, you just figured that out now? I think Canada may also have a better geography lesson plan for it's students....jaja
BTW...you may also be interested to know that Russia (and some say China) are also bigger than the good ole USA.

Re: Why Canada is Better Than the US
Anyone who thinks Canada has better beer than the US probably hasn't consumed the products of some the 1791 Microbrewies in the USA. BTW, Canada has 391. "American Beer" is no longer defined by Bud, Miller, and Coors.

Re: Why Canada is Better Than the US
Oh?? Do they have a higher alcohol content than the mainstream beers or is that a regulated thing?

The US has 10 times the population so on micro brewery per capita basis Canada is far ahead.

Per capita doesn't count when you want a tapper, proximity does!seisdedos wrote:David wrote:Anyone who thinks Canada has better beer than the US probably hasn't consumed the products of some the 1791 Microbrewies in the USA. Yes, many do. There is an upper limit but it's up around 16% or so, but each state has it's own limits, many that are lower.CanuckBob wrote:Oh?? Do they have a higher alcohol content than the mainstream beers or is that a regulated thing?

Once again the U.S.A. marches (marched) to a different drummer. Be careful not to be confused by ABV vs ABW.

Re: Why Canada is Better Than the US
Montana State Law was changed in 2009 raising the allowable alcohol in beer from 7 to 14%. I don't know WHEN it was 3.4.Pedro wrote:montana is 3.4 which is a light beer in canada. they do sell light beer there too-would it be like o'doole-SNORK!

Re: Why Canada is Better Than the US
The only thing I'm tellin' is that most US westerners call creeks cricks. You can Google the alcohol thing yerself.
I'm NOT saying the US or Canada is better, they've each got their fine land, fine folks, and fine traditions. Problably 20 years ago Canadian beer was better across the board that the US stuff which was like making love in a canoe!

Re: Why Canada is Better Than the US
unlike you,i don't need ta google it, as i drank the beer in montana fer over 20 years. my trip from sweet grass to belt included whacking back 6 coors and smoking a half pack of marlboro lights in the 120 miles. when i arrived in belt there would be a beam on ice waiting for me as soon as i walked into the east side bar. and i always brought some o'keeke extra old stock[7.1] for my cowboy buds

And it still has a better infrastructure than the US. Imagine that!

Re: Why Canada is Better Than the US
Ever since I was of drinking age, American beer in Canada has been referred to politely as "panther piss". I can't write here how it is referred to in impolite circles.
If the microbreweries in the U.S. are catching up, having been at it since beermaking was allowed again in Canada after Prohibition, then that is good news. So the question becomes, why don't the major U.S. breweries have a handle on what the public really wants?

From reading the above sentence I'd say that's arguable.Pedro wrote: we know this because we have better schools we attended than you obviously did, viajero.

Re: Why Canada is Better Than the US
First of all check who's winning the International beer competitions. The US is not "catching up." US Microbrewers have been setting the pace for about 2 decades. Next, how is it that you are not aware of the fact that US does not OWN any major brewers? The best one of the bunch was Anhueser-Busch and they were acquiered some years back. They alone were making some "craft" and specialty beers. I have no idea if that's continued or not since I've been here 8 years.HelperGuy wrote:Ever since I was of drinking age, American beer in Canada has been referred to politely as "panther piss". Have you ever asked yourself where the money came from for the Pelican Brewpub? Not like Pacific City has a pristine reputation when it comes to sourcing of various financing!
