GOING TO PV FOR EASTER?
FA GET ABOUD IT! We just returned from Tepic, and the traffic was backed up from the 1st toll booth over 5 miles into GDL. Only extremely patient people should make the drive today! Based on traffic, every toll stop will be an hour wait. Good luck to all making the trip and Happy Easter.

Don't even think about it! Hotels have been booked for months, beach camping offers more used Pampers than you ever knew existed, and please give us a month to get our beaches clean again. We are in seige mentality but are prepared. Unless you live here you wouldn't be, and you would be miserable.

Semana Santa in PV is just ugly. Stay away from Los Muertos Beach for sure. What a disaster the week before and after Easter are.

Trying to post a picture of Semana Santa in PV

This was taken the first day of the Easter vacation. This is just a small sample of what is happening in PV this week.

Yep, the people and their families that bust their asses all year long to have a week of fun at the beach. More power to them.

Just wish they would clean up their messes before they leave. No problem with anyone visiting PV anytime, just leave it the way you found it. Don't think that is too much to ask.

One of my good friends is a lifeguard there in Vallarta. He has sent me some pretty good pictures, and has a lot of stories of idiots having to get saved by the lifeguards.

Re: GOING TO PV FOR EASTER?
I can talk about this now, but when my wife and I arrived to Puerto Vallarta two years ago, it was with some anxiety. The place my parents purchased 15 years ago is on Los Muertos waterfront, the El Dorado Restaurant, the owner's residence, over the restaurant, built in 1961. There was a complete reconstruction of the restaurant, and alot of maintenance work that needed to be completed on the residence. The new owners were rumored to be Cartel - and they wanted the residence. The 'partners' were a scary lot, younger, tatooed, and rich- the Manager had a bodygaurd/driver.
There was a major management blowup, with the youngest of the partners wanting (and getting) full control. Just before Semana Santa, he dismissed the partners, and some key staff, and brought in 3 uniformed security gaurds who were there 24/7. Closer to Easter, the Marines moved a unit in with a tent, about twenty troops, all carrying rifles. Then in the actual Easter, they moved in a truck with a mounted and manned 50 calibre machine gun, less than 5 feet away from our deck. There was also a frigate patrolling the seaside.
The funny part is that tourists, walking along the beach, must have looked up at us, sitting on our patio, and wondered "who the heck are these people!?!?"
It turns out, in no way could the restaurant be Cartel - they like to make money, not p$$ it away. Also, the next year, they dropped the machine gun, and Marines were not required to carry assault rifles.

Re: GOING TO PV FOR EASTER?
I don't think anybody is slamming their joy or the right of the families to a vacation on the beach. They've earned it and they deserve it.
However, having lived there for six years and observed the disaster that is left behind is entirely another thing. Would it be too much to ask to put dirty diapers, garbage and broken glass into the disposal containers provided? They arrive on a pristine beach...would they like it if they arrived to a beach in the same condition as they left it?
Just sayin'.
