Arbol De La Vida leaves.
Just a shot in the dark here. Is anyone familiar with these tea leaves available in the markets? The tea was recommended by a Mexican friend for my cough and seems to help. I've also noticed that it really helps with digestion.
I'd like to know what the actual name of the tree is. I've Googled the heck out of it and only come up with Moringa Oleifera, but the dried leaves look nothing like the pictures of Moringa leaves on the internet.

Moringa is available at La Granjera in Ajijic. It is next to Gossips Restaurant (just west of Actinver on the Highway).
If you google further, you will discover that it should not be taken as a tea because the boiling water destroys some of the nutrients.
We buy the ground Moringa at La Granjera. Every morning we mix 1 level teaspoon of Coconut oil plus 1 level teaspoon of Moringa plus 1 level teaspoon of pure maple syrup...mix completely and eat with a spoon. Some people sprinkle it on cereal or salads or mix into a smoothie. My hubby calls it green goop and we both feel better taking it.
La Granjera also sells the dried crumbled leaves if you insist on taking it as a tea.
Salud!

I think you must be looking for Moringa too.
There is a very nice woman at the Monday Market that sells it and promotes it. She also puts it in gel caps for those who prefer. I find it really increases my energy, it's an amazing plant.

Not sure if this is the same of which you speak of:
http://www.explorelifeonearth.org/arborea.html according to this there are other species. Interestingly the roots are preferred, however the smell is said to be very how shall we say....mmmmm pungent as in smelly.
Can you find out which one the local variety is ? Is it imported? From what I have read this is a very versatile plant. In a word..... AMAZING !!!

Moringa Oleifera is the correct botanical name...other names are for different countries. It does grow here. The lady at La Granera buys it at the big market in Guadalajara.

Those gel caps sound like a good idea. I put mine on ice cream and it tastes great, but hey there's only so much ice cream you can eat, just sayin'.

Yeah, kinda, however I won't take lipitor, it's bad news stuff. So definitely need the gel caps. Wonder where I can buy them, any Ideas?
BTW ferret back at U of T. I frequently had coffee with artificial sweetener while eating the most sinfully delicious pastries up at the colonnade twice a week for our one year of nutrition studies. Talk about a BAD student!!!!!

I believe that the Monday market is the one located at "Hole in One"...and I "think" I've seen her at the Tuesday Market at The Evento in West Ajijic.
