And those are just the mental and spiritual benefits.

_______
Celtic Salt
'
Once redisolved in water or in the moisture of food as it cooks, these elements recreate the sea water. It is amazing how this composition is similar to human blood and body fluids.
Basic physiology validated the fact that the ideal replenishing substance, capable of maintaining or restoring health in humans, would have to be that very sea salt that has retained all of the elements of original sea water.
Although the biological necessity has not yet been proven for each of these elements, it has been established that 24 of these elements are essential to maintain life.'

Grape Seed. Extract and Reservitol
'There is evidence that grape seed extract is beneficial for a number of cardiovascular conditions. Grape seed extract may help with a type of poor circulation (chronic venous insufficiency) and high cholesterol. Grape seed extract also reduces swelling caused by injury and helps with eye disease related to diabetes.'

I take it for allergy relief and it appears to help me. Ymmvm

'Another one is Reservitol:
"Heart disease: It’s thought to help reduce inflammation, lower LDL or "bad" cholesterol, and make it more difficult for clots to form that can lead to a heart attack.
Cancer: It could limit the spread of cancer cells and start killing them.
Alzheimer's: It may protect nerve cells from damage and fight the plaque buildup that can lead to the disease.
Diabetes: Resveratrol helps prevent insulin resistance, a condition in which the body becomes less sensitive to the blood sugar-lowering hormone insulin. The condition can lead to diabetes.
'Researchers believe that resveratrol activates the SIRT1 gene. That gene is believed to protect the body against the effects of obesity and the diseases of aging.'

NAC Amino Acid aka N-acetylcysteine
People who take nitroglycerine should not take NAC unless supervised by a physician since it can cause the nitroglycerine to work more intensely and cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure.'
'This pill is available to everyone and can be purchased at virtually any health food store or pharmacy. It's made by various manufacturers and ranges in price from $0.17 to $0.99 per pill depending on the milligrams.
In the hospital, it is used in the intravenous and oral form to protect and restore the body before and after it has been exposed to certain chemicals, including radioactive dyes used to illuminate parts of the body during an MRI, and in the case of acetaminophen overdose. It’s also used sometimes to help cancer patients overcome the adverse events that may be associated with isoffamide and cyclophosphamide.
NAC is an immediate precursor to a very precious substance that our body makes. It's called glutathione. Amino acids such as cysteine, glutamate, and glycine are also natural precursors from the food we eat.
On Sept. 2, 2015, the FDA tweeted that IV glutathione was being used as a skin lightener. It restores the skin to the color of early childhood. It is not approved for use here in the United States and the FDA

The simplest things are free. Eating less, more exercise. Less fat, less animal protein. Since I retired and with a fixed income I’ve become more frugal in eating. All my lab results have corrected themselves. My liver function which was borderline high is normal now. My cholesterol and triglycerides normalized. I became a diabetic so I stopped all sugars and that helps. I lost about ten pounds. I take Vit D & C, magnesium supplements and b/p meds. I drink a bottle of Cabernet a week, not for any health reasons.

Re: What unusual supplements do you use?
Diet can only affect your cholesterol by 5% or so. It is mainly a hereditary condition. Exercise can definitely help to reduce it a bit more. My Metamucil and fish oil, recommended by my doctor, reduced it 20%.

I don’t know about that. My cholesterol always ran in the high 220s
After I retired it dropped down to about 185. That’s all I can say.
I didn’t change parents.

Re: What unusual supplements do you use?
Bob, I believe you could achieve the same results by increasing your plant intake and eliminating the Metamucil which is just fiber with no food value and can result in constipation. Unlike the plants you could be eating which provide both fiber and food value.
I battle cholesterol, a gift from my mother, by eating a plant-based diet with zero dairy and exercising as much as possible and can keep it in the 220/230s. I am loathe to take statins, but have, and when I did I could get it down to 185. Cholesterol is only one component to worry about, inflammation seems to be proving more deadly. Ditching sugar can help that. If you want to measure inflammation in your body, get a CRP (C-Reactive Protein) blood test. My last was zero, normal limits are 3 or less, I believe.
If you want to ditch dairy, and you should, you can get good vegan cheeses, Beyond Meat vegan hamburgers, and plant "milk" at Schmitty's in SAT and El Granero in Ajijic.
Most docs know nada about nutrition.

Re: What unusual supplements do you use?
Constipation?? Quite the opposite. It works for me with no change in diet. 218 is ok with me. I would rather die a few years earlier than have a plant based diet......lol. I have greatly reduced my sugar intake by switching from Rum & Coke to Vodka & mineral. Havent touched any pop in almost a year.
BTW....I did do statins for 6 weeks and it went down to 137. Biggest drop my Doc had to ever seen in such a short period but I hated them. Gave me a headache.

I take a fairly popular homeopathic solution which is said to cure everything from restless leg syndrome to head lice to dementia. I drink about 2 liters a day. I get it from the tap. I've taken this preparation all my life with no negative effects. But I do pee a lot.

I must congratulate you on your success. However, I refuse to subject my body to any system that has managed to find it's way on to a best sellers list. How many here spent money on The Secret? Now, how many are where they'd hoped to be as a result of it? I did at one time buy into the Wine and Eggs Diet, but I couldn't keep up with the all the red carpet stains nor the grey fog where memories of the previous night should be. Not to mention the gass. Cholesterol HDL 87
LDL 103
Triglycerides 48
I to take fish oil and eat fish, chicken and turkey. Once a month I enjoy a NY strip and bone in fried pork chop or two.
I use plain yoghurt Greek and drink kefir.
I hate processed mik so I sub half and half diluted. I eat full fat cottage cheese and cream cheese for my bagels.
Occasionally i drink goat milk.
I eat very little bread with the exception of fresh baked rye and wheat.
Blood pressure has always been perfect dispite being a smoker and over endulging in real ice cream chocolate of course.
I juice a couple times a week. I bought a mastacating juicer.
Most all veggies are fresh, frozen or home grown. Fruit only in season.
I'm trying to walk more. Also only Mountain Valley sping water. And yard eggs.

VITAMIN K
OTHER NAME(S):
4-Amino-2-Methyl-1-Naphthol, Fat-Soluble Vitamin, Menadiol Acetate, Menadiol Sodium Phosphate...
Read Reviews (19)
Overview
Overview Information
Vitamin K is a vitamin found in leafy green vegetables, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts. The name vitamin K comes from the German word “Koagulationsvitamin.”
Several forms of vitamin K are used around the world as medicine. Vitamin K1 (phytonadione) and vitamin K2 (menaquinone) are available in North America. Vitamin K1 is generally the preferred form of vitamin K because it is less toxic, works faster, is stronger, and works better for certain conditions.
In the body, vitamin K plays a major role in blood clotting. So it is used to reverse the effects of “blood thinning” medications when too much is given; to prevent clotting problems in newborns who don’t have enough vitamin K; and to treat bleeding caused by medications including salicylates, sulfonamides, quinine, quinidine, or antibiotics. Vitamin K is also given to treat and prevent vitamin K deficiency, a condition in which the body doesn’t have enough vitamin K. It is also used to prevent and treat weak bones (osteoporosis) and relieve itching that often accompanies a liver disease called biliary cirrhosis. Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) is taken by mouth to treat osteoporosisand bone loss caused by steroids, as well as to lower total cholesterol in people on dialysis.
People apply vitamin K to the skin to remove spider veins, bruises, scars, stretch marks, and burns. It is also used topically to treat rosacea, a skin condition that causes redness and pimples on the face. After surgery, vitamin K is used to speed up skin healing and reduce bruising and swelling.
Healthcare providers also give vitamin K by injection to treat clotting problems.
An increased understanding of the role of vitamin K in the body beyond blood clotting led some researchers to suggest that the recommended amounts for dietary intake of vitamin K be increased. In 2001, the National Institute of Medicine Food and Nutrition Board increased their recommended amounts of vitamin K slightly, but refused to make larger increases. They explained there wasn’t enough scientific evidence to make larger increases in the recommended amount of vitamin K.

Re: What unusual supplements do you use?
We above^^
Diabetes: The form of vitamin K known as vitamin K1 might lower blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes and take vitamin K1, monitor your blood sugar levels closely.
Kidney disease: Too much vitamin K can be harmful if you are receiving dialysis treatments due to kidney disease.
Liver disease: Vitamin K is not effective for treating clotting problems caused by severe liver disease. In fact, high doses of vitamin K can make clotting problems worse in these people.
Reduced bile secretion: People with decreased bile secretion who are taking vitamin K might need to take supplemental bile salts along with vitamin K to ensure vitamin K absorption.

Re: What unusual supplements do you use?
We used to give vitamin K to patients taking Coumadin and needed to have the effects reversed. This was on patients who made have taken too much Coumadin or who would be having some procedures which required normal clotting times.
