New Pool Construction
I finally convinced the boss to let me have a pool!!
Are there any recommendations for good contractors who know their stuff... grading, drainage, etc
And maybe as important... any horror stories and who doesn't know grading, drainage, etc...
This project would also include a considerable amount of patio & stone work...
Any & all help appreciated!!

These two guys are the best, the second guy, Chino being more expensive than the other. I suggest you split the pool and patio jobs into two separate quotes, then ask for a total if doing both. Both of them can take you to jobs that they have done. Chino, the second guy whom I've used (and I use both) will be doing a complete master bath remodel in my neighborhood. Once he starts, I can probably show you. Call their Cell phone numbers.

Raymundo Blas work includes a $ 200 K + complete remodel of a house, kitchen, living room, terrace and exterior of one of the nicest houses in Ajiojic that sold in January for 620 K, just outside our Community. He also did a remodel of one of our friends house that was sold to new owners. They did a 160 K remodel including a new pool.
He has also built a complete new arroyos for us at Los Arroyos Sur according to CNA specs.

Had him do a job for a neighbor of mine when I first started managing his house back in 2003. Very, very expensive and the guys were super slow. Last job he got from me.

Re: New Pool Construction
The only comment I can make after having a pool put in is make sure that all water lines are pressured checked before they pour the cement and you want access to any joint. And that “blue goo” they use to seal the joints is worthless!

You never miss an opportunity to say something negative. He did a stunning pool for a friend; on-time, on-budget, and spectacular.

Do you know the price and size? Everyone comes in on budget, no one is going to pay extra after a quote is given unless you're stupid.

So you're saying that if I'm stupid someone is going to pay extra? Such a way with words.

Well, quite possibly... or you don't mind paying extra cause you are a really nice man and have money to spread around...

I was addressing John's use of two unrelated persons in his post. He said "no one is going to pay extra unless I'm stupid." I'm with the "language police."

Re: New Pool Construction
I've put pools in for many years so if you need help let me know. The best advice i can give you is use flexible pipe for all your return and intake lines, and if you can make it so you can access the return lines, because that is where a line will break the most, right at the fitting. I have had to break out concrete many times because of this. And that "blue goo" is the right glue to use, you just have to clean the pipes right before you use it. call me anytime
