OREGON VS KANSAS tonight @ 7:00 on Shaw .....TSN2
BCS bowl game tonight. #4 Oregon vs. #5 Kansas Should be a great game. Winner should move to #2 in the NCAA rankings, after Dawgs BAMA kicks butt over Notre Dame. #3 Florida got their butts kicked and should move back out of the top 10.

Re: OREGON VS KANSAS tonight @ 7:00 on Shaw .....TSN2
Thanks for the tip Jim. Sadly I was not very happy with the quality of the signal on Shaw Direct. That is why Shaw is launching a new satellite, Anik G-1 at the end of this month.
They need more band width for each channel so that they can offer better quality HD. I got the idea that the band width on the game was so limited that the signal quality was somewhere between SD "480 I" and HD "720 I", and that scares me.
The signal quality of DirecTV's ESPN feed was true 1080 P HDTV. And gosh you can really see the difference on todays average sized sold LED-LCD HD TV which today is perhaps 47 inches per Google Search.
Sadly there is a good chance that the signal from the new Anik G-1 satellite will not be viewable in Mexico, let alone the southern US. You know better aimed at their intended target, Canada.
If so, Shaw Direct which has been a great solution since it first went live on Feb 21, 2001 may go like C band did, away. I sure hope that what some of the folks are saying on the Shaw Direct techi Forums will turn out not to be true about Shaw reception in Mexico.
Well what ever happens, the signal quality from Anik F-1R and Anik F-2 will be viewable until they are replaced. Let's hope that Anik G-1 doesn't replace that many channels viewable in Mexico.

I'll be so confused what sattelite system to get when I get to the US. I have DISH network now with the 8 foot dish, but I really miss C Band with its clarity.

John, sadly what you have is the standard definition signal from DISH USA. If you want many HD signals, you need an 8 foot satellite dish pointing at DirecTV or a much smaller satellite dish pointing at the Canadian Shaw Direct signals.
Sadly the HD satellite signals from the DISH satellite 129 degrees West just don't come in that well lakeside. In fact with an 8 foot dish one can not get a reliable HD signal from DISH Network from 129 W. If you want a high quality HD signal lakeside, you need to change providers.
In the US you will find DISH has a great HD signal, equal or better to what you got on C band

Jesus Jones, Pete or as Charlie Brown would say, "Good Grief!" We´re talking about a bunch of retards beating each other up on a field dedicated to the disputacious behavior of young thugs toward one another with 100,000 drunkards observing in the stadium and now I, an Alabama boy, have to worry about my signal quality here in Mexico. I wouldn´t even have known I was getting an inferior signal if you´d just have cooled it with all that techno-weinee stuff disturbing old goobers in our twilight years.
I remember, while growing up along the Gulf Coast that those Canadians were always sending their damn cold fronts down there and that was no problem for them at all yet they can´t get me my proper satelitte signal
but have no problem charging my bank account every month like clockwork. I have never been able to figure out how we stole 3/4s of Mexico (including Texas, for God´s sake) and only Maine from Canada.
Kansas vs. Oregon for God´s sake. Noplace vs,. Nowhere.
¡ ROLL TIDE. STOMP THE IRISH! I should be in Chiapas with my darlin´ wife where we are the only Shaw customers in the whole damn state to the best of my knowledge such as it is. The reception is better down there than at Lakeside since we are closer to the satelitte down there than at Lake Chapala or so I was told by the huckster who sold me that overpriced dish.

Since the game and the score apparently meant little to the posters, maybe a "gamecast" of various satellite systems is in order? It isn't like TV is a life changing experience!

What do you mean that "...TV is not a life changing experience," Neil? I remember 1952 when WCOV, Channel 20, started broadcasting out of Montgomery from 2:00PM to 10:00PM and Little Dawg was so thrilled I used to just stare in wonder at the 15 minute-long CBS news broadcast at 5:00PM as if it were a message from God hisseff. That certainly changed my life. Before that, my only link to the outside world consisted of weekly radio broadcasts of "Mr Keen , Tracer of Lost Persons" and "Only The Shadow Knows,"
I did have a few porno magazines back then for entertainment purposes hidden under my mattress but my dad stole them. What the hell was he doing searching under my mattress in the first place?

Neil, this might be a new record, it only took 2 posts for pete and joe to hijack this thread. BTW all, Oregon won 35 -17.

Jim:
That was a heck of a game right from the opening kickoff! I guess now we get to see what happens with Kelly as he seems to be a hot property with certain pro teams. I would wonder just how well his ultra fast game that requires athletes with superior conditioning would work in the pros?
On the plus side, it appears that Oregon has a "coach in waiting" as they typically do!

Neil, It was a Great game, however, midway thru the 2nd qtr. it was starting to look like a repeat of the Stanford V. Oregon gameThey gotta be a lock for #2.

Si! Any bets on whether or not Phil Knight had anything to do with the decision?

He may have, but I prefer to believe Kelly is smarter than the average Bear...LOL! College coaches with programs make big bucks now, and in many cases exceed what NFL coaches might receive...not to mention "SATISFACTION", and a better quality of life.

Let's see, where would you choose to live; Buffalo, NY, Cleveland, OH, or Eugene, OR? If San Diego had opted in things might have turned out differently! Actually, I think he got a taste of the "big business" that is pro sports and said, "No, thanks."

Re: OREGON VS KANSAS tonight @ 7:00 on Shaw .....TSN2
Considering that Tampa offered him the head coaching job last year and he has bailed on the pros once again this year, it may just be that he has concluded that the college game better suits his style and aspirations. Phil Knight apparently did play a part: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/report-phil-knight-making-push-keep-chip-kelly-180106819--nfl.html
David is right about having to live in Cleveland, Buffalo or Philadelphia. The rain in Eugene may look good?

Then too, consider the messes that are Buffalo, Philly, and Cleveland. Compare and contrast them to the 2013 Duck coaches and players. Which job would YOU rather have?

Forget the messes David, those programs will take longer to fix, than the length of his contract, since the pros are about picks and trades, rather than recruiting. Even with the rain, I'd rather live in Eugene:D!

Another thing that may have come into play is the rumored NCAA investigation? Maybe Chip Kelly prefered not to be compared with Pete Carroll? From all that I have read, the accusations against the Ducks are not nearly as severe as those faced by USC.
