Ear infection, need a doctor.
Dr. Juan is in Guadalajara and I need to see an ear doctor like, today. Does anyone have any referrals? A phone number would be most helpful also. Thanks

I'd try the Ajijic clinic. They are open and Dr. Rodriguez seems pretty competent. Sorry I don't have a number.
Good Luck.

RB, ear infections are pretty straight forward. If you don't need an ENT, consider just getting a consult at Cruz Roja.

Thanks Trail, what's an ENT? And if I go to Cruz Roja I would want to pay for their services. Can I do that? Otherwise I'll go to the Ajijic Clinic (thanks E).

Looks like trailrunner is offline. An ENT is an ear nose and throat specialist.

Dr. Rodriguez "may" not be in on Saturday. Ask if you call. There are two Dr. Rodriguez, one is the father and one is his son, both equally personable and competent.

Re: Ear infection, need a doctor.
Have had several of these painful infections myself and my wife just dealth with it last week. Agree with Trail Runner: Cruz Roja is the way to go! Most likely a 50 peso "at cost" bill will be handed to you and you can pay more if you like as we did to support those wonderful folks.
Ajijic Clinic okay as a backup - have been there many times as well - but you're most likely in need of a quick look-see and some powereful antibiotic/sterioid/anaesthetic ear drops.
Hope you feel better fast!

Thanks everyone! Gotta love this board for being able to get needed advise quickly. Had we not left before coffeeguy's post we would have gone to the Cruz Roja as it's just down the street but instead went to Integrity Clinic just off the libramento. No waiting, got a diagnosis, prescription and outta there in 15 minutes, 300 pesos. Then off to the pharmacy, another 300 pesos and the entire process was done in less than 30 minutes. I shutter to think what a hassle and expense it would have been NOB. Viva Mexico, and ya'll for your help. It is much appreciated.

Re: Ear infection, need a doctor.
ENT is Ears Nose Throat doctor. There is one that comes to the Integrity Clinic - very good. He has office hours in Guadalajara other days. Dr. Luis Garcia Nogueira. Address Ave. Lopez Mateos Sur I 410 - he speaks English and is very thorough.
Cell phone 333 959-8154. If you can wait to go to Integrity clinic their phone for an appointment is 766-5154.
He cleared up a long term ear and sinus infection that no other doctor lakeside could get under control and I went to most of them. So if your problem isn't under control by Wed. you might want to give him a try. Much better exam and treatment than I had last month from an ENT in Houston. Problem was going on that long.

He comes to Integrity on Wednesdays. But check with Ana the receptionist to be sure - it's the holidays.

Re: Ear infection, need a doctor.
Hey RB, hope you're feeling a little better today. You may want to give it a little bit longer than Monday to turn your infection around, as others have said, Wed would be good and if not markedly better by Wed might be time for an ENT.
Just a note regarding Cruz Roja. Many aren't aware that our doctors do consults all day and night for a very reasonable fee, in addition to receiving ambulances and critical patients that come by private vehicle. We are not allowed to charge for our services, no member of the International Red Cross is, but we will compile a list of supplies and medicines used on you and will present it to you asking for reimbursement. Anything extra as a donation is profoundly appreciated.
Just to make you more comfortable using CR, I might add that our Medical Director is an American who graduated from medical school in Guad and is now practicing with 2 other physicians at Cruz Roja. They work 24 on and 48 off, so your chances of getting Dr. Sam are 1 in 3. :)

Re: Ear infection, need a doctor.
Thanks for the advise and explanation of Cruz Roja's policy of accepting payment/contributions for their services Trailrunner. All things being equal I'd prefer to take my minor ailments to them and help support their cause. Having a list of supplies and/or meds to resupply would be helpful and I'm guessing an additional 200-300 pesos to cover the intake, examination and treatment, with that amount put into extra supplies, correct? Thanks again, I do want to get this right.
