Jim, a little off topic, but where is the oyster place you mentioned. I know it's not Auto Zone...maybe oyster zone?

Well, that was easy....thanks a lot Jim.

I didn't know that, but I guess you've been there with some of the other forum members.

They carry the "regular" synthetic Mobil, not the "extended wear 20 000 km".

Re: Trip to AutoZone
Does anyone know if you have used regular motor oil in your car before that you can switch over to Synthetic?

Yes but sythetic is more slippery than normal oil and it goes into every hole no matter how small so I would say yes if your engine is still
tight and doesn't leak oil fine. Don't think you can go 20,000 miles without changing that is for highway miles not putzing around the village
like most of us do. Read the maint schedule for your car. Also certain cars like some toyota or vw have a problem with sludge in some of
there engines and I would not want to run an extended oil change schedule in any of these affected autos. I change my oil once a year here
and it has about 5k miles on it. I use normal mobile one sythetic. My use is about half road and half village driving.

Zed - Thanks. I always change my oil once a year, about 2,500 miles on it.

Re: Trip to AutoZone
I wouldn't recommend switching to synthetic if your engine has more than about 60,000 miles on it. As pointed out by Zed, your engine could start to leak oil like a sieve.
Rollbar????

Hi Bob. I was asking for my good friend here who has a Ford Kings Ranch with just about 60,000 easy miles on it.

Oh yea CB and I forgot one other. Don't put it in any cars over
20 years or so. Gasket material has changed to allow newer more
slippery oils. Gaskets might fall to pieces but are more likely to leak
all over the place or back to problem one.
