Here is a new Tequila Boutique in Guadalajara, and their opening ceremony. We had to miss it D$%N!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRav0fsplVY&feature=plcp

Address Avenida Terranova #295-A
Colonia Terranova
Guadalajara, Jalisco.

phone: 01 333 998-4329.

Featuring the famous Tesoro de mi Tierra tequila I have been raving about.

Enjoy!

They now have some lovely new bottles as well. Unfortunately La Paz is out of the añejo, but will probably get some next week. Maybe we tequila lovers could point that out to them when they're getting low. I love the añejo, it is awesome.

The new bottles are really works of art. I'm not sure what they charge for those, but hey, they are worth it. They're very similar to the alien tequila bottles sold in the U.S. Those bottles unopened sell for 180 U.S. on E-bay. Of course you don't get the funny little alien face, and the bottles don't tend to topple over.

The tequila boutique also has some beautiful hand painted rebozos for the ladies. One of a kind works of art. As in something you don't see every day.............just sayin´.

A gentle reminder: PAZ Vinos y Licores is the name of the wine and liquor store owned by the Paz family. La Paz is a city in Bolivia.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of being invited to a tequila tasting and educational session at the "Tequila Boutique" owned by friends of E-raq and the infamous "pool guy". [b]Casa Tequilera San Augustin functions as an outlet for the el Tesoro de Mi Tierra Distillery;

I would personally consider this to be a mid priced tequila but found the distillation and tastes simlar to much high end tequilas.

So what is a good smooth sipping tequila? I can not imagine tequila alone without some sort of mix. I have a friend who loves tequila and would like to get a bottle of something smooth for him to enjoy. Thanks

It's VERY smooth. Hubby's personal favourite is El Tesoro de mi Tierra ANEJO. This is excellent sipping Tequila and, in our humble opinion, is better than Don Julio 70...and a LOT cheaper.
Beautiful handblown glass bottle with a glass stopper too.

When it came to the Anejo tastings, there was a split decision on whether people prefered their regular label Anejo or their slightly lower proof and sweeter ISA Anejo.

I hated the ISA añejo, however apparently mixing the two makes it more palatable. I love their TMT añejo.

Tequila should never be adulterated with wood. A fine Tequila Blanco is the height of the art. Wood is for whiskey, Southern barbequed pork and Scottish salmon among other comestibles. Never Tequila.

Some info on their secondary brand, ISA:

During our education and tasting session, there were those who prefered the lower alcohol content and slightly sweeter taste of the ISA Anejo.

Wood is also for very good wines and I happen to prefer Australian Reds aged in oak. Each to his/her own.
Got an e-mail from Jaime. El Tesoro de mi Tierra ANEJO is back in Paz. Unfortunately it is NOT in the hand blown bottles and, according to Jaime, the flavour is a little different. Still, it's a great sipping tequila for the price. Who knows Dawg, you may even like it.

Dawg only drinks tequila straight up and then only blanco. The rest was meant to be amusing. This is not Albuquerque, Neil.

Everyone loves a smart _?_?_?! By the way, I stick to rum in Albuquerque but we both consumed plenty of tequila when we were in Mexico.

Paz now has all three ANEJO brands...El Tesoro de mi Tierra in the hand blown bottle, El Tesoro de mi Tierra in a straight up tall bottle and the ISA. Centre aisle on the left...along with their Reposada and White in all three brands.

I for one am not fond of any white tequila, the only stuff I will drink is reposado, and a damned good brand such as TMT or añejo which is one helluva good sipping tequila. With a helluva good price as an add on.

Dawg, curious, why blanco over the others? Usually I only drank tequila straight up at open-bar weddings, and I must say I wasn't in any condition to judge the quality. I always preferred the reposada, even on tasting trips and when comparing. So is it the taste you prefer?
