At least where the rubber meets the road......there's little bitty bit of fabric in between, unlike the poodle plunked pantsless on a cushion with the party next to us at Yves.

So if you sat in the poodle's chair after he left, are you saying your butt isn't covered?

You got it. I'm thinking next time, I'll just assume the pantless pup was sitting on my cushion and place a napkin over it. lol It the waiter asks why I need another napkin (heh heh) I'll TELL him. Or the owner. Or both.

Or start spraying the cushion with a spray disinfectant prior to sitting down in any restaurant you know allows dogs? That should get their attention!

Yeah... and every park bench and any furniture in a dog owner's home. Probably need a double shot in my home.

I'd like to know what people do with a Walmart cart before they use it. Do you put your purse in the "child seat" section or in the cart inself where the older kids have had their feet and butts?
BTW, imho, dogs don't belong on people cushions in restaurants.

I don't think the dogs belong on chairs in restaurants either but if your own butt is covered I doubt the dog cooties will invade your body.

Re: Dog Friendly Restaurants at Lakeside
I guess we've about "covered" the subject here. It's really about people and why they are inconsiderate enough to put their pantsless pup on a chair cushion or let it go leashless in a place where food is served.
It's also about restaurant owners allowing it. Alas and alack, some of my favorite restaurants are the most lax and let their own pets roam free on the premises. As long as the Lakeside area expats are largely pet focused rather than people focused, I don't see it changing. End of rant.

One other thing no one mentioned is that if a particular dog has parasites which you wouldn't know and if you sit on the cushion afterward, you can get those parasites. YUK!!! Double yuk!!!

Re: Dog Friendly Restaurants at Lakeside
Our dog is allowed in restaurants, but only outside.
He does not sit on furniture, ever. He is not allowed on any furniture at home.
He does not beg for food.
He sits quietly under the table until we have finished.
If on a rare occasion he gets curious, I take him for a short walk away from the restaurant.
He NEVER goes to a restaurant at night, only during daytime hours.
FWIW that is my opinion of how a dog should be trained. Since ours came from a shelter where he lived for 11 months with 1500 dogs, training was a bit more of a challenge, however he's very smart and learned quickly. His first trip to a restaurant was to Roberto's where he received a warm welcome and was invited to either come back any time or move over there with Bobby. This was in December. So I guess a month was all it took to get him up to snuff.

You have no idea, he even has his own car, since his hind legs were so weak he couldn't get into our larger cars. We bought Spencer's Jetta for him, no problem the dude is a great traveller. Since then he's been on Glucosamine chondroitin, Vitamin B and mavicam for pain. This guy is running a mile a minute and just went for his first holiday to the beach. Met some beach doggies and learned how to come every time with the aid of bacon which we got takeout orders for from the restaurants. Super super dog. Now that his hair has mostly grown back in he's pretty handsome too, they had to shave him due to lack of care. Golden Retriever who went from sad sack to wonder dog in a bit over 4 months.

You're saying that if you sit on a cushion that a dog with parasites sat on.... you can get them? Just what kind of parasite might that be?
