Flight of the Butterflies - the movie

I was very lucky to win two VIP tickets to the worldwide premier of The Flight of the Butterflies http://www.flightofthebutterflies.com/ last night at the Smithsonian Museum. It is a joint venture between numerous entities in Canada, US and Mexico. What a gorgeous movie - 3D and for showing on IMAX theaters!

When I entered to win on FB, I didn't receive many details other than show up at 6:30 with a photo id. Well, it was quite the event! Presidente and Senora Calderon were present! Afterwards there were cocktails and Mexican hors d'oeuvres! We had a great time.

Highly recommend this if anyone has the opportunity.

Off topic but why is this and Mexican ins. In octagon? Cg where was this event?

Lucky you! I hope they plan to show this film for free to the school kids of Mexico (and everywhere). The Monarchs and their routes need to be protected and appreciated.

Another movie that just opened in theaters here is called "Hecho en Mexico"
I've only seen the trailer but it looks interesting.

I noticed that Noe has a tour to the Butterfly Sanctuary Jan 24 - 27. While we do not typically go on guided tours, this is one tour we would be inclined to take if we happened to be in Mexico that time of year. Having talked to a number of people who have made the trip to one of the sanctuaries, I understand it to be a once in a lifetime experience.

We are planning on taking this trip too, Neil. The only caveat is we may have some vistors arriving during those dates but if not we would be happy to join you.
